  1. 3 Months????? Bleedin nora it doesn't seem that long! Glad your loving it. Your photos look awesome! x
  2. Aah, thats awesome. Glad you are doing well and enjoying it! Ah, you'll love Queensland, the craic will be mighty. I applied for my WHV yesterday!
  3. Hey Stace. Lovely to see your having such a great time! How are you doing? Hope all is well. x
  4. Oh yeah, Dated 2014, stated repeatedly that it is only alleged, under the previous government, investigation underway, with "government getting tough on visa and migration fraud."
  5. Got some evidence to back that claim up with? Telling me to do a google search doesn't count.
  6. Because whichever way you look at it, there are still skill shortages of specific skills. Some industries still really need 457s.
  7. Yeah, I do appreciate that, I'd be fully up for that as long as I wanted to do the job for 4 years. I just wasn't sure with this one, so I'm negotiating a trial on a working holiday, they said they'd be willing to sponsor after that if we both liked each other, (so to speak.) I mean, I'm still pretty young, single, no kids, no mortgage. I think I'll come over on a working Holiday and see how I get on. My manager here at home said I could pretty much come back whenever I wanted, so I don't think I've too much to loose.
  8. Yeah, I think you guys are right. The job was on a 457. They were wanting to write a 4 year commitment clause into the contract. I did go back to them and ask if they would be willing to let me come out on a working holiday visa and then see how I liked it, they have said, (to there credit) as soon as I land, there will be a job waiting, so we've left it on very good terms. I've been thinking about it and I think I have made the right decision. I do fancy the working holiday visa to give me a bit more flexibility and I could always take the 457 once I'm there if I like it. It's a good position to be in. My employer here in the UK has said they'll extend my fixed term contract for as long as I want until I'm ready to go. To be fair, everyone is being so lovely about it. Looks like I'll be out in Oz a bit later in the year on a working holiday visa to start with and see how I like it. Oh, also, I got a positive skills assessment back yesterday, so all I need now is my AHPRA! WOW! It's all good really. x
  9. ... But I turned it down. :err::err::err: Not sure if I've done the right thing, had a Skype interview about 10 days ago and got the offer yesterday. VERY exciting to begin with, but the more I looked at what they wanted me to do, I just felt uneasy you know, like I just didn't feel I wanted the role. am I crazy!?!?!?? At least, I have had a Skype interview and understand the process a little more now. Maybe I'm being far too fussy, but something just didn't feel right. I'm sure a job I'll love will come up soon. BTW, I'm a Podiatrist and went for what I thought was a pretty similar job in Oz, but turned out it wasn't.
  10. Hi Gang, So I can't really believe I'm writing this, but I've been offered a Skype interview at 2am tomorrow morning! (GMT) It's with a company that provide Podiatry care to various clinics in Queensland, GP Surgeries, care facilities etc... I've been reading up on the company and I've been looking through my old interview notes/uni work. It's just I've never had a Skype interview before. Does anyone have any information or tips? Thanks in advance! :wubclub:
  11. From what I saw when I was traveling and yes, I was only backpacking, people did appear to work harder in general. I saw people particularly in rural areas slogging their guts out. I kind of admired the nature of the people I saw. They worked hard, made decent livings and knew how to play hard when they did have some time off. Kind of inspired me to come home and see if I could start to achieve some of the things I'd seen. There's something to be said for having proper protected time off, but at the same time, most successful people you see, didn't get there by sitting around all day.
  12. Wow! Very interesting. I couldn't stand the lad, but time will tell what the new guy does. Still the same party.
  13. Glad to hear it. Yeah for sure, if she want's my e-mail, let me know via PM and I'll let you guys have it. Would be great to catch up. Thanks Kate, very kind. I'll always be grateful to the people of this site, for helping me out when things were tough. x
  14. Haha, it feels like it's been going on for a LONG time! Oh thanks Stace, That's lovely. How is she? Send her my best regards. Is she not on here anymore? xx
  15. Thank you so much everyone, you're all lovely and yes it's very exciting. Cheers Stacey, It's been a while hasn't it!
  16. Thanks Everyone! xx I wish, no am working all weekend, BUT I have managed to score a bottle of Ozzy sparkling red, so I'll be cracking that one open on Sunday! Haven't had one of those since I was out in Oz the first time! x
  17. Wooooohooooh! I passed all my exams and am officially a Podiatrist! Got a job in the NHS too, which is pretty awesome. I wanted to thank you all so much for all the support over the last few years. It's been a long road. 4 years of studying and a couple of years thinking about it before that! Going to spend some time getting some experience and some money together and then look at potential visa options. Again, HUGE thanks to everyone who was so kind to me in the beginning. I had my tough times, but you guys convinced me to stick with it. I'll be forever grateful. Who knows; I'm sure I'll be along to ask all manner of questions, when the migration process starts. Now I'm a professional person! xx
  18. I went 5 years ago as a backpacker and had a wonderful time. Really enjoyed the place. Ended up staying much longer than I had planned, it was just really chilled. Don't know how much it may or may not have changed in 5 years though.
  19. I don't understand what you mean? I AM proud enough of my Dutch citizenship to potentially not switch to Irish, (which I am entitled to.) I just haven't decided yet. No, not all European countries allow dual nationality.
  20. Dutch citizen who would be required to renounce my citizenship if I ever decided to take Australian. Makes the whole thing quite hard to figure out. I don't want to renounce my Dutch citizenship because I am very proud. I also couldn't imagine having to apply for a visa to go home! Having said that, I am actually also entitled to Irish citizenship. I'm considering going for that and renouncing my Dutch, before I apply for any sort of Australian visa, because as an Irish citizen, you can have dual. Also, that way I wouldn't have to apply for a visa every time I wanted to come home to Europe. ARRGRHHH, I can't decide what to do. I wish Dutch people could have dual citizenship. It's kind of upsetting that your government doesn't want you, once you've gone away to try and better yourself. :-(
  21. HAHAHAA! Grockel boxes. Devon girl here and I love the place, but I do think it might be time to move away.
  22. Does anyone have any experience of this area at all? I appreciate it's pretty regional/rural but I'm OK with that, intact; I couldn't live in a big city. Having said that, is it possible to drive to Melbourne or Adelaide for a weekend, if you wanted anything more for a couple of days? Whats Horsham like as a town? A very vague question I know, but if anyone has any thoughts on the place, that would be really cool. Thanks.
  23. Hi mate, not going to Adelaide, but have been in the past. theres a GREAT hostel in the suburb of Glenelg. It's called Glenelg Beach Hostel. Really cool place, just round the corner from the beach. Cool staff, a nice bar and just around the corner from the tram, which gets you into the city centre. Have a wonderful time, Adelaide is awesome, chilled out but a really cool place to explore. x
