  1. Jeeez Christmas lights can't cost that much. Good old uk not changed much since we have been away then.
  2. This post made me chuckle i do a lot of driving here and find myself shouting these same comments at people every day.
  3. All the best for when you get here hope you have a great time of it over here
  4. Everybody has different reasons for moving so it's almost impossible to tell if it's going to be the right place for you by reading other peoples opinions and experience's. Since moving over we have never looked back and we love it here. Perth has given us the chance to achieve so much more then we could in the uk. Every day we sit in the garden when we both get home from work and say how lucky we are to have the life we now have. It's good to read both good and bad posts on here but sometimes we can let our feelings blur the line between fact and fiction which don't help anyone in my opinion. Perth and WA is an amazing place. All the best.
  5. But she is not right, in Woolworths its about $3 at the most for 2 litres of milk and harvey fresh is about 30 cents cheaper.
  6. It's not all bad though i think they have put the minimum wage up to 6 quid now. Thats 48 quid a day. Live like kings we could on that.
  7. Well now i stand corrected so we can all sleep easier tonight now.
  8. Still even Northbridge is a lovely place compared to Bradford.
  9. Just reading through some of your past posts. And it came across that you had some hard time over here, that's all. No offence intended
  10. No northbridge is a bit low brow for me. I live in woodvale north perth lovely place:biggrin:
  11. Also fed up with looking out over the grey dirty old looking streets. Seeing the kids hanging around outside the local shop with a bottle of cider in there hand. Hearing how someone with three kids who has never worked a day in there life gets more money from handouts then someone working full time. Yep it's sad to see how far a once great nation has fallen.
  12. Are you sure it was Perth WA Where you stayed PB ?. Sounds like the place scarred you for life.
  13. Great news guys. Wishing you the best of luck
  14. Hi there. Welcome to the site. What sort of work will you be looking at over here?. What part of Australia was you thinking of?. It's a massive step to make and a very exciting/scary one. All the best in your research.
  15. For us we had nothing to lose by giving Oz a go. After losing my job as a floor layer i spent months applying for jobs with no success while working 12 hr shifts for a agency on 5.70 an hour. And then on the weekend going to do the shopping and feeling like we was the only english speaking people in tesco. There is so many reasons why we left these are just a few. I still think England is a great place it's just a little sad to see what it has now become. But since moving to Australia we have never looked back and feel more at home here then we did in our own country.
  16. Hmmmm $6 for 2 litres of milk. Does it come with the cow too?. "The truth about how expensive Perth is!! " If you shop in rip off service stations.
  17. Great post. It is a fantastic place. When i step out the door in the mornings i feel Jealous of myself.:rolleyes:
  18. Skateboards and pushbikes are pretty cheap here.
  19. They still use them as far as i know. Just have a ride into bradford and have a look at Christmas time.
  20. I remember when Bradford starting using rabbits in there Christmas lights, as they thought Angels would be offensive to the none Christians. PC gone mad indeed.
  21. We had this little guy living just outside our door for a bit. Not sure what they are called but it shakes the web if you get too close.

    Hello..

    Hi. Welcome to the site.
  23. What state are you thinking of moving too ?. Sorry to hear things are not going to well for you, and i hope you find something soon. The job market here in perth seems to be pretty good at the moment. My partner works in recruitment here and when we was back in the uk. At the moment she has no problem finding work for skilled people. I would suggest having a look on some of the Australian job sites like Seek and see if you get a feel for what might be out there from them. All the best J
  24. Northbridge seems to be a good night out, and the burswood is good fun
