  1. Have you checked the requirements for business visas to see if you're eligible for any of these? Here's the link http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/business/provisional-visa-options.htm. We're going on a 163 visa & have our visa already so if you have any questions then just ask. As someone has already mentioned it's useful to go over on holiday first to see whether you think it might be the right move for you. Business visas can be expensive especially if you use an agent and as the exchange rate is so poor you need to decide if you can have a successful in Australia with your funds at this rate.
  2. Hi Jon Nice to read your post and that things are going well for you. Lot of useful information so thank you for this. The exchange rate is awful isn't it? I think you know we got our visa now & we're just planning to sell house now and then go when it sells. May have to end up validating first but we'll see. Have you transferred your funds yet or are you holding out for a better rate? What about the businesses you're looking at - I was hoping business prices might have dropped as the economy was slowing down - at least I was hoping so just to compensate for the exchange rate. Any information you can give me on businesses would be great. Thanks Emma
  3. Was wondering why £ increased to Aus $ on Friday as I couldn't find any news on it, so thanks for this. It did recover slightly by end of day but let's hope Westpac predictions are right!
  4. Jon I'm sure you'll get the answers from the agents as the EXPO. I would have thought that if you were joining your wife on a student visa then you should be eligible for work (whether that's employed or self employed) but just check how long the visa is valid for and what you need to do to get permanent residency. Good luck! Emma
  5. Mel A big congratulations on getting your visa, I did think you were not long behind us. When are you planning on going now? The exchange rate is very depressing isn't it, I had thought it was going back the other way at one point, but it has just come crashing down. Putting the house on the market next month (have been holding off), hope we don't get a sale too quickly! Emma
  6. Hi Jon We used a company and got our 163 visa issued a couple of months back. The process was so much easier through an agent as they know exactly which information is needed. It's not cheap but if you're busy and haven't the time then this is a much easier option. I'll send you a private message with the agent details.
