  1. Hi, I've been told that beds (decent beds) in oz are expensive. It it his true and would it be worth me taking my two new'ish (2yrs) beds with us? Both wood frames from ikea. Cheers Tyrone
  2. Hello Tyrone, Thank you for your email. Are you currently located outside of Australia? Since Gumtree is a local Australian classifieds site, if you are not located within Australian borders, you will encounter problems using Gumtree. I am very sorry for the inconvenience. Regards, James Gumtree Community Support I want to improve! So it'd be great if you could answer 4 quick questions in our customer support survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/WL9WV3X I'll use an OZ proxy server!
  3. Hi, I am in the UK trying to post an advert on Gumtree AU. the advert seems to go through but when i look at my account there are no active listings?:arghh: I tried one last night and today, tried on my iPad and my laptop. Any suggestions? Thanks Tyrone
  4. Hi, My family and I are relocating from London to Sydney in October 2013. We arrive on the 17th and require somewhere to stay while we search and apply for a long term rentals and attend job interviews. The areas we are looking for are Alexandria/Botany/Mascot/Maroubra. As I work in the airfreight industry most airfreight agents are located in and around these areas. Our aim is to rent for 3-4 weeks as we feel this should give us enough time to find somewhere permanent to live. We will not have a car, so a parking space will not be required. But close public transport would be an advantage. Internet access will be required if possible to aid our property and job research. - and searching online for help with migration issues. We are very responsible, clean, non-smokers. Ideally we a looking for a 1/2 bed flat to rent, but will consider a small house if the rent is reasonable. Thank you for taking the time to read and I look forward to hearing from you soon. The Goodwill Family Sent from my iPad
  5. Hi Mosa, My family and I are also moving to Sydney in October. We have our flights booked but still unsure on where to book a short term rental. I need to be near the airport (1hr ish commute) as I work in airfreight. Where did you find your rental advertised? We've been looking but haven't found anything yet!!
  6. I booked with Singapore Airlines. I emailed the above email address and within 24 hours received confirmation that each passenger on the indefinite stay australian visa is entitles to 40kgs baggage. 32kgs max per case. HSE reasons I believe. Result!
  7. I am about to book the tickets for my family and I on Singapore Airlines. I have just email the above address to confirm before i make the booking. I have also contacted IOM for a quote. I will update with my results.
  8. t Thanks; Time won't be an issue really. We'll be in temp accommodation when we arrive for 3/4 weeks until we locate a rental with space to put things.
  9. ATM I agree Pom Queen. The spelling mistakes in the email I received and the set pricing doesn't give me confidence. have also Googled them and nothing of any help. Even the address, when Googled through Google maps does not show an expected site for a freight forwarder - Regent Street??!! I'll see what PSS quote me. I don't think we will even fill a 20ft and PSS advertise that they have a shared container options available. We wont be in any rush for our shipment. Crown and John Mason will be next. Thanks
  10. Yes, that would be great. I have received an email from them today quoting; "1x 20ft container. 1-2 bed house move Price Door to Door £2150.00 inc. , securing and straping. customs THC's delivery in to mainland sydney address. Not included, Customs Duty this has to be paid at the port once the container has arrived. Alternativly we can arrange a 40ft container priced below: 3-4 bed house 40ft container Door to Door £3750.00 inc. , securing and straping. customs THC's delivery in to mainland sydney address. Not included, Customs Duty this has to be paid at the port once the container has arrived." Regarding the customs duty. Does anyone know what this is based on or roughly how much this costs? We don't want to be hit with a huge unexpected charge when we receive our shipment! Thanks Ty
  11. I have PSS coming on the 10th June to quote. After reading this post I am going to contact homeandcarmoves.org. Further to the above, has anyone else used homeandcarmoves.org? Thanks Tyrone
  12. Hi, my family and I are moving to Sydney in October this year. I have found this site www.airbnb.com which is handy for arranging arrival accommodation as well as decent short term rentals. - cheaper than hotels!! Our plan is once we're there we will get straight to estate agents to look for longer term rental before we're ready to buy. I work in airfreight so will still need to be within commuting distance to the airport. I'm still waiting on confirmation on a job, my wife is a secondary school teacher so will be able to do supply before she secures a permanent position. all the best with your move! Good luck. Tyrone
  13. Thanks is this the same for all types of visas? And could anything cause it to be sooner? We are still waiting for our visa and our agent told us today that we will have to activate it by October. Even if we only get it in aug or sept!
  14. Hi, once our visa is granted. How long do we have to activate it?
  15. Sorted. We have finally managed to locate a doc to complete the assessment. This was carried out last Thursday and report was received to day. Our panel doctor will be uploading to E Health tomorrow morning. If anyone else is struggling to locate a doc in the Heathrow area PM me and I'll pass on the contact details. i hope that we don't have much longer to wait!!
  16. Hi this is exactly what I want to do but no doctor will carry out this requested assessment. I have provided all that I can from my sons medical history.. Tomorrow is the deadline for uploding to e-health. We've tried our panel doc, GP, private hospitals and our local NHS hospitals - no one can help us. :arghh: Just seems they are asking for something that is impossible for me to obtain.
  17. Hi all. just wondering if anyone else has had any experience with a child/adult with the G6PD bloody deficiency? We had completed and submitted our medicals. But as my son has G6PD which is basically an allergy to broad beans and some medications, we have been asked for further information. i have obtained my sons medical history, but and unable to obtain a recent assessment carried out by a G6PD specialist. Has anyone else had this issue? We have had to submit to e-health what we have, without the assessment. I am worried that this is going to cause us to have our visa rejected. So frustrating as this is the last hurdle to gain our visa. We've contacted everyone we can and no one is able to provide this for us.
  18. Hi, just looking for some info. Reading these posts, does it mean that once i am out living in Oz, I would be able to sponsor my parent's visa? Or not? Thanks Tyrone
