  1. Hi, I was stunned by the agents fees, but luckily its paid in installments. Hes been worth his weight in gold. Had my skills assessment back in record time so for me, so far, I would say it is worth the money! xxx
  2. this is my biggest fear about moving to Aus
  3. I really feel for you. My family have been extremely understanding about it. My mother is gutted that she is now to old to make the move off her own merits herself. My one sister wont even talk about it, but has said to my mam that shes not going to get upset because I wont go anyway. Its obv extremely difficult for those being left behind, but I have told my family that I dont expect them to be thrilled that Im leaving, I just want them to understand why we are doing it.
  4. Good luck to you. I hope that you are all settling ok and am really looking forward to hearing how Australia is turning out for you all. xxx
  5. I would say the best thing to do is get online and have a look which area firstly has the best job opportunities for yourselves, closely followed by house prices and decent schools. Jobs have to be the most important I would say, because without that the rest isnt going to happen anyway! What 2 states are you looking at? Good luck!
  6. Congratulations Geelong is a lovely place. About an hr from Melbourne, has a close small airport (avalon). My mate lives in Geelong West, spent 3 weeks there last yr and was devestated to be leaving. Lovely people, lovely place Good luck.

Its not really complicated, but dont go into it to complacent. Im British born, have a uni degree....and am just booking my second round of IETLS. Didnt get the score I needed on my written test!! Just make sure you do some past tests, papers etc and you will be fine
  8. I dont see anything wrong at all with asking for cash. as long as its put in a nice way
  9. OMG!! people can be so horrible!! Good luck to you all, regardless of your situations. xx
  10. Congratulations on getting your parents on board with your decision to move. I think thats half the battle! Best of luck for a quick and smooth journey. Aus is more exp now, but I think that when earning $ it seems much more in proportion as opposed to earning £ and going over there and spending $ Keep us posted.
  11. Im on the top of the mountain! sometimes I feel like the windows are going to fall out the winds are so strong! but like you say, when you see the weather Qland are having at the moment then it does put it all into perspective.
  12. I think its normal to have wobbles about going. Its a huge step, but ultimately only you can choose. Sounds like you have a good life here. If you feel that you could live with never having at least tried it then why make the big move.
  13. I have considered this, but the OH wont even entertain it!!!
  14. Its absolutely horrific out there! The wind is howling away outside. I live in the Rhondda Valley and am sat watching the rain travel in waves down the valley!!
  15. haha, love this post can do an aussie feast in my uk home
  16. I dont think its rude to ask for cash at all! I have received wedding invites that have had little poems asking for cash rather than gifts. Im sure your family and friends would rather give you something that you want rather than give you something that will cause you hastle. I think cameras, web cams, all brilliant ideas for gifts and easy to take with you.
  17. how lovely to hear that people are so generous! stay safe. xxx
  18. What a lovely first post and a fab piccie Best of luck to you both! Im also a terrified flyer but promise that every minute of the flight is worth it when you get there. Aus is truely amazing. Look forward to hearing about your journeys!! xxx
  19. Had an e mail last week to say that my VETASSESS is back already and has been successful!! Wasnt expecting this back until about March or April!! Thrilled. Now just need to get my IELTS passed!!!
  20. Im waiting to do my second attempt at Ielts. Had a 9 in the speaking, 8.5 in the listening, 8 in the reading but only a 7 in the writing....needed at least an 8 in everything!!
  21. I think mainly people book a holiday rental from this side for a few weeks. These generally come furnished and give you a chance to find an area and a house you like. But everyone is different. But there is plenty of material on this site about everything good luck
  22. You may be able to apply based on your contracts administration experience, http://www.immi.gov.au/asri/occupations/c/contract-project-or-program-administrator.htm Its def worth talking to an agent. This could be a perm route for you verses your OH 'temp' visa with work again. Good luck
