Hi. Perm residency but no jobs! I'm sure things will materialise, but still scary. We expect to convert our visa in 2 years if we like it, but having never been, we have no idea. Have you been to Melbourne? What is it like? Everyone keeps telling me it gets cold there and it rains a lot, but it must be better than the UK! Where will you be living? I will be Woking in Mt Waverley, so until we get there, we don't know wether to settle nr the city, south bank, middle park area, or somewhere along the mt waverley rail line towards work, that way, work and the city are accessible, but without the high costs I take it renting your house in UK is not an option? We will make about £1000 per month on hours, so that will help towards the cost of renting in Melb. Is there anything that you will be definitely taking that you know you can't get in Oz, or is too expensive, anything that can go in a tea chest sized shipping box? good luck selling the house bye for now, Dan

Hi All We are emigrating to Melbourne on 13th March, just over 6 weeks. We are Dan and Jo Quest I am Dan. I have a new job with an amazing company in Melbourne called PaperCut (457visa), who have created and sell a fantastic Print Management Software Solution Globally. Neither my wife or I have never been further than Europe, let alone Australia, so to say we are nervous and scared is an understatement!! The Flights are booked - Singapore Business Class (Jo has a Fear of Flying so we are trying to make it as comfortable as possible) Three nights stopover in Singapore at a beach hotel on the Sentosa Island booked - break the journey up. The first night in Melbourne booked - Savoy in Brighton so we can wake up on the beach for our first day in Oz The First 6 weeks in managed services apartments booked - Eureka Towers, South Bank Mank Accounts with ANZ set up Apart from that, that is it. We are not shipping much, just a few boxes of more personal stuff, clothes that we can get in the suitcase and wont need until the Melb winter etc. but we wanted to know, if there is anything in particular we should bring, anything that is hard or very expensive to get in Oz! We are selling most things, Furniture, TVs, large items on ebay, and everything else will go at a car boot sale, so, if we should bring something, and not sell it for a pound at a car boot, we would be grateful to know. We will be renting our house, for at least 2 years (insurance policy) then we will take a view on selling it. We have sooo much to do in the next 6 weeks.
