1. Hi nicanday you send the fee to uknmc with the form (they will send you this), its around £30. Fee to QNC is around £106, depends on the exchange rate. I think it is about $225. I've paid out so much I'm begining to lose track, what with medicals, police checks, postage etc. Hope this helps. Lynne
 2. Hi everyone, got my queensland registration through yesterday yipeee, now just waiting for visa. But cant check on it as the website is down. getting really excited now, and scared. :-)
 3. Hi Ali, thanks for putting me straight, its a huge relief to know I dont have to sit exams.......again.
 4.
just looking on the inernet it looks to be about a 30-40 min commute. dont want it to be more than that, going to oz for a better lifestyle not to spend half my day travelling. Problem is I've had 12 years of living close enough to work to walk most of the time. only take the car for late shifs and rain.!!!!, mind you thats pretty much all the time.:-) will keep you posted once we get there

 5. oh c**p I fall to pieces on tests, any idea what is involved. I even forget my own name and how to write, speaking seems to destert me too and i end up jabbering like a chimp.

Hi John

we were looking at springfield lakes, collingwood park. Now looking at other areas as well. Newmarket, redbank plains, wynnum, but its all so confusing. Been advised by two different people not to go to ipswich as it has a bit of a bad reputation. To be honest I think we will just wait till we get there and have a good luck round. How far are you in the process. We are now just waiting for police checks which should be any day now and of course the Qnmc registration which is painfully slow in coming.

 7. thanks Ali, will be applying for pr asap when we get there so will cross that bridge then.
 8. Hi Ali, I'm going out on a 457 visa and getting registered with QNMC, they have'nt asked for a skills test, will I still have to have one when I get there, would hate to do all this and then find I fail a test.

Hi,

we are hoping to be over there by June/July time, just waiting for registration to come through. not sure yet what hubby will do. he works at our local docks as a tug driver and has a contact at Brisbane docks for when we get there, but he can turn his hand to pretty much anything, ran his own computer repair business and is also a painter and decorater so hopfully he wont have too much trouble getting a job.

Hi John

interview with the mater was a doddle. I went to the London Expo and they were there recruiting, invited both me and my sister (midwife) back for an interview and we both got jobs. it wasnt a hard interview though i was very nervous as so much was riding on me getting the job but really it was easy.

it would be great to keep in touch, i'll stay tuned into this forum once we get there but feel free to pm anytime. what field of nursing is your wife in. Midwives and paed nurses are particularly in demand at maters as they have a private childrens hospital as well as the main one but as it is the biggest in the area they need loads of staff. I'll keep you posted.

hope you had a good christmas and all the best for the new year
