  1. So my wife who was on a partner visa which is 2 yrs temp and 2 yrs pr. As she was due apply for citizenship 1st june does she apply or not? If under old rules she will have been here 4 yrs total in june but if going by new rules she will only have in that 4 yrs in july this year only have 3 yrs of pr to date. As new rules require 4 yrs of pr she now waits another year. But will they say if she calls if eligible or will they say apply next year and these rules have not passed yet. If they don't pass then she has a head start in the process or are they just going to say sorry you cant apply till next year? Has anyone who was due to apply since these new rules do so that where ok in old rules or but not in new rules. As wife has 4 weeks left before applying under old rules i wonder if she can or not.
  2. With these new rules i was wondering do they still have the calculator for citizenship where you entered your details and it would let you know when you could apply? Myself i prefered to call but wife wanted to check but i cant find it have then got rid of it?
  3. I contacted my mp regarding these citizenship changes and below is the reply. What does it mean? Probably nothing but was worth putting my point across. And as wife was eligible 1st june prior to these changes will it still be same or do you think they will say its now next year? Not bothered to call and ask yet. But curious anyone who was eligible since these changes if they have applied. At this stage, the laws have not passed Parliament, but we are currently looking closely at the proposed changes, as well as undergoing extensive community consultation as to how they will affect Permanent Residents and other visa holders in Australia. We will continue to advocate for the fairest approach for every Australian.
  4. I take this is for 457 visa holders? I wonder if things will be made more fair for those was partner visa who have been here 4 yrs but under that visa had two yrs temp and 2 yrs pr. Which would mean instead of being eligible in june it be next yr in july with new rules. Yes i know its just another yr but its the fact goal post was moved to pr holders who was about to apply which on that alone is so wrong.
  5. Yes maybe but nobody knows this yet anyway.
  6. Hopefully there are some changes or it does not pass parliament but im sure it will. But its going to affect most until it is im sure. I got my citizenship last year was going to leave it until wife was able to apply and do as family but glad i never as i would have had to wait a bit longer. I came over in pr so really would not add to much waiting as been here since 2013. I did add my daughter which im glad i did now and son born here so citizen aready, just the wife left. She came as a partner visa and was due to apply june 1st so not long away, but cause of these new rules has to wait an extra yr after july. Ok i know not that bad or long of wait but at first thought she had 2 yrs to wait but looking back as she applied back in 2012 got granted pr after 2 yrs of temp it was 2014 she has had her pr. But it crap if you ask me should not have to wait another year it really should not count on people aready on pr or so close to applying. I have wrote to a local mp and i have emailed a few places about this not that its going to make much difference but the way they have gone about this is an utter joke. Dont they have brains whoever makes these rules, they really need to take a look at them again and make some changes. Some people are worse off than what my wife is if it had stayed old rules maybe wife would have been citizen by end of year now its cant even apply till another yr more.
  7. I been in australia for almost 4 yrs and its been a roller coaster ride regarding work. In almost a yr for example i have done only 3 weeks work which is crazy. Before i moved to aus i was always in work and for 23 yrs. Ok things are not the best at the moment but i said to wife i just might need to get some work from uk for a bit and just travel back and forth each trip or leave i get. I would be doing either 2 weeks work,2 weeks off or it might be same but 3/3. I have my citizenship but wife still to apply for hers in june then we need to consider where we want to be. This job in uk is 12 months work or even much longer. My question is has anyone lived here but worked in uk? If so whats the ins and outs of doing this ie paying tax? Do you pay uk tax as well as aus tax. Is it worth working in uk while staying in oz? We are on family benefits a and b and its on my name would this need to be changed to wifes name if we still qualified. Being a uk citizen there is no restrictions right in working even though aus is home at present. Im trying to weigh up the pros and cons of working back there and what i should know. I may not even get the work but uk work has never really been and issue in past. But just wanted to know any helpful info you could pass on if i was offered this work. Thanks
  8. Does anyone have experience with landmark global world economy or dpd air classic? im looking to have a 12kg box sent from uk to Perth Australia and a site I have used many times over both in uk and Australia have come up with the two above a bit cheaper than your fed ex or ups etc. Cheap is not always the best but would be interested to know if anyone have used them and there experience. Im hearing landmark may use ups or big names but maybe not, dpd I can't remember much about them from uk. i have other options of parcelforce,FedEx,ups etc but trying to lower the price if I can but yet still get good service.

And what if you don't have the date or proof? As you cut these pictures I maybe have thrown away the date part which to be I never really thought was important till I read about photos for passport. having got these photos to apply for citizenship back in end of June and only used one photo of each lot of 6 I find it crazy really. I take it I go to post office with them and post office don't ask about dates it's all ok, surely they passport people don't ask proof also. what if you honestly made the mistake and had cut these up when you got the discarded the cuttings with the part with date that's an expensive mistake having to get pics again? surely they just look at you and are happy with that? i may try my luck see what happens end of day if they ask for proof of date then I can't and just get photos done again then have signed by guarantor who signed before.

Proof of when photos was taken your kidding me right so I have 5 photos of myself just under 2 months out of date and a daughter of 4 yrs with 5 pictures of 1 month out of date of which these where used to apply for citizenship are no good? Seems a complete rip off to me. i said to myself when apply for citizenship these photos be handy for passports when we apply. so you where asked to prove date of photos when at your interview? Im sure I did my new born son without any proof of photos but then he was less than 6 months old anyway.

Yes there is a date on them but you need to cut the pictures up as comes in bunch of 6 date is at far side. You need to cut photos to size,im pretty sure to date i have used photo taken just out of date but maybe not used for passports but even though a month or two over i dont see any reason not to use?

Yes but one pic being a month over and other being two months how can they tell? Its not as if they have dates at the back on them.
  13. Anyone on here who has applied for passport after citizenship did you use recent or older photos? I believe i needed for when applying for citizenship or might have been something else cant remember. Anyway i have only used like one photo from the bunch of 6 and same with daughter. So 5 left of each. It says to use within 6 months are they kiding me? Im sure the post office regardless in the world has been dated is this just to try and grab more money off you? My daughters ones expired about month ago and mine maybe two months ago it has date of when taken and when expires. It says not to be used for id purposes really? The dates are not stamped on photos so its not as if they know just at the side of bunch of 6. So gets cut off anyway. I really dont fancy spending out on two sets of photos when clearly i have already. Are they to know when it was taken?

I get citizenship cermony on australia day so want apply for daugher and my passport asap, i see they dont display paper applications these days you need to ask for them which i did. But i see you can apply online any benefit from doing it online vs paper? I know with paper application i can pre fill it have the guarantor filled in make appointment asap and all done. Where as onlibe i cant apply till i have done cermony and have a cert number. As it does not allow you to progress until you have it. As australia day is a public holiday it be closed that day anyway but i wanted to at least get it all done ready for next day. If i did it online then it take me a bit longer as i will need to get hold of the guarantor etc. You still need to make appointment at post office regardless what way you apply but wondered if any reason to do online vs paper application. Just want to get it sent off asap and with having paper form already filled in i can then just add cert number and its done.
  16. Also im so used to using moneycorp im confused what im doing with transferwise, i have 1 uk account and 2 aud accounts in my transferwise account to make a transfer from my uk bank account in my transferwise account to one of my aud accounts what am i supposed to select the aud account i want to pay money into? How does it know to take gbp from my uk bank account? Sorry newbie here and not 100% sure how it works.
  17. I also have found they are crap now at replying to emails, before used to be quick these days they rarely bother unless its just me.
  18. So thats a uk account they have changed to? I noticed an email saying they was changing and never really thought nothing of it. Entered the details but no bank name came up company name came up. But it entered ok but maybe it does not work? As not tried sending aud to uk account yet. If its now a uk bank surely it will not work with most banks now? Anyone tried? I did look into transferwise few weeks back when i wanted to move money this time from uk to oz and transferwise was showing better deal. I tried moneycorp but said the deal the offer is not real you dont get what you see etc. So the gave a better rate but was still less than transferwise. Did you need much to set it up make transfer as im sure you needed to provide id and stuff but mine seemed to say i was ready to go?? Should i do a little transfer first see if all ok or what as im not even sure if i have set up my transferwise account right? If moneycorp has made it harder to transfer from au to uk then like you i be moving to transferwise as it was handy to transfer from au to uk every once in a while.
  19. Can anyone tell me if you have transferred some funds from your uk bank account to there account can you get it all back.. im asking them by email to match transferwise rate by emailing them in fact about various things in past they was very quick in responding now they seem to never reply. Have sent several emails regarding a few things still not replying. And im liking the way you see up front from transferwise what you get. So im thinking of asking moneycorp my funds back im not sure they are as good as they used to be,well not for me anyway. My issue with transferwise is i am ready to go use? Have added two oz accounts and one uk account and for address my address where my uk cards are too. But i live in oz. I just dont know if you need to have one account for oz and one for uk or can use one for all. As of right now i wanted to move money from uk to oz but from time to time from oz to uk. I have not provided any photo id its says im verfied bit confused. If i wanted to use transferwise i would want to asap. Not days later trying to give them id and stuff to get going.
  20. I have been with moneycorp for past 4 years but comparing them to transferwise rate wise is crap,so I'm tempted to move over. i was going to try and send id but section it asked me to verify now and says it's done? is this just another method of verification? as I have not sent photo Id and don't see it asking me now. also I still have two uk accounts and I have two oz accounts from time to time I like to send money from oz to uk with moneycorp which is all set up and has been for a while now. and as of now I am slowly transferring from uk to oz. having not set up when I found transferwise a few days back I just went for moneycorp as was already set up both ends but I'm not liking the exchange I'm getting compared to transferwise. my question is can I use one transferwise account or do I need to accounts? As its asks my address which is australia but I changed that to uk. so what happens if I want to exchange from uk to oz I should be ok? But what I want to go from oz to uk will that uk address be problems? im not sure if I need to accounts or just the one? i have currently added two oz accounts as recipients and one from uk. but confused if my profile of uk address will be an issue. my uk accounts are address to my parents address and oz accounts addressed to where we live in oz.
  21. Problem is when signing up where do you set up from where you currently live? Im in australia but have accounts both in uk and here. So as im looking to transfer from uk to here what details to i give ie address i take australia? Its just when i did this but stopped until i find out more it asked aud bank details? But im sending from uk. I would want to move money from here to uk as well but my priority would be for now uk to here. I do get fee free from money corp so does it really pay to use transferwise?
  22. I have been using moneycorp for few years now from uk to send money to australia before we moved and from time to time send money back to uk from here in australia. Its been a while sincevi did it from uk to australia and im wondering if my account will be still set up for this. I also have come across transferwise tonight anyone used them? Im hearing they are good exchange rates and low fees. I do get fee free from moneycorp. But how does moneycorp compare to transferwise. Im sure transferwise wanted me to do id. My issue is here what id? And what place as i have id from uk and australia. Im looking to transfer from uk to australia so when its askibg for address etc is this uk or australia? As i still have my uk bank cards addressed to my parents home. It may take a look into transferwise another time as may take a while which i want to transfer asap but would moneycorp match there exchange? I have had no issues with moneycorp just want the best for my money right now
