  1. Im about to apply for our sons Australian passport born last month here is oz and we are both on pr, he has got his oz birth cert and I believe we just apply and get his oz passport, but I found this: http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Evidence_of_Australian_Citizenship Is this really needed or just another money making thing.I don't see why this might be needed if he is born in oz and has oz birth cert ok we are uk citizens but here on pr. I'm sure the aus post office will ask for the above if we don't meet the requirements. but was wondering about this. Or is this old now and no longer required
  2. May sound a bit silly these questions but im applying for a uk passport for our son who was born a month ago here in oz. My question is does it make any difference which passport to apply for first? Uk or oz passport. Im almost done filling in form for oz passport just need the photos but thought i look into uk one. Some questions it ask i want to make sure i answered right are: Was the applicant a british national at birth? Said no was born in oz but we are both uk citizens. Has the applicant been granted a certificate of registration or naturalistation by the home office? Said no he was born in oz and been registered here in oz. And when you enter parents full name does this include middle names or first and last enough? Also i believe you can no longer do this at aus post office now but can only just out of interest who supporting docs do they ask for? As not completed the online application yet. And can this be copies? And what method of postage did you use to send to uk. Not done a passport from uk yet here in oz and just wondered if there was anything futher i shoukd know.
  3. The reason wife and kid is on another visa i had my visa and was granted before kid was born and before i met wife and they we applied for there visa thats why they are under another visa.as i validated my visa and then went back to uk this was all before meeting wife i was told by several on here and other forums and called to find out i can apply from june 2016 three years after moving here.
  4. I have been here Currently for 2 yrs and I qualify for citizenship from June next year yes three years I will have been in oz,after being told and reading up about I called them to confirm and I could apply then. my question is how long did you wait from applying to becoming citizen?does this depend on state, area you live etc I'm in wa. just out of interest what sort of paper work is required for this application? i am also considering a move back to UK unless things change or get better for me here, and was hoping I can stick it out till after I get citizenship which as said would be less than 12 months now when I can apply, but it's financially can I stay that long and wait that long till I get it,is it worth holding on for and why. my wife and kid will not be able to apply till the following year as on a different visa which is annoying as been nice if we all got it ASAP. is there any issues have citizenship from UK as well as here as I heard not a lot of countries do this dual citizenship. are there any advantage of having this when wife and kid will not?if we thought moving back to UK was a mistake and wanted back to oz with me having citizenship will this make things more easy for a return, what happens with pr visa if we did not get citizenship and returned do they expire and that's the end of that or say we was in UK and pr was about to expire can we apply for another then another ie keep it going and always having that option of a return. i believe the likes of citizenship you need to have continuous stayed in oz and if we returned and came back years later would start all over again for applying for citizenship. if we are still here we have little one on way and would become Australian citizen, but seem a bit of a mess I might have if stay here long enough, new born will gain from birth but wife and other kid will not. seems a long way off for me applying for citizenship and even longer for wife etc and wondering if it's even worth it. seems if I or we all had it all we spent and did to get here would not have all been a complete waste and cause the government changes the rules so much it may become harder. i did read that they was looking to charge people 50,000 for citizenship lol and the way I see it once you have it surely that it,where as rules could change it becomes harder to get. how long did it take you guys from applying to citizenship.
  5. I think i already mentioned in my post she had been on partner visa for first 2 years but got here pr last july and now medicare card is expired thinking one would be sent out she has to now show her pr,passport and fill in her application. So im wondering what options if i have me already having a 5 yr medicare card which she probably quality for now. Or are they best to have on medicare card?not sure of thr benefits of having all same medicare card vs our own if thats possible
  6. As I said I already have card wife and daughter has expired and if it's worth all having same cards or they get there own as I still have three years left on mine just wondered if there was any reason to cancel mine and all have same card.
  7. I'm on or visa and qualified for 5 year Medicare card, wife who I met after I got my visa got her visa through me and she got a 1 year Medicare card followed by another 1 year card when we arrived 2 years ago. We took it for granted that her new Medicare card would be posted out but it's not been as as she is now or from July 2014 and cause her card is expired she needs to take her passport, visa grant letter and fill in an application. I find it crazy that she has to do so after being with Medicare last 2 years and pretty annoying that we had to find out by calling them no letter or call or anything to explain what she needed to do. If we had kept waiting and never asked where her card was she would never know. Now that she has to apply for it again what forms does she need to fill in?i suppose she can do these at Medicare place or can we print out forms and fill them in advance. As my wife and daughter are on a different visa to me as I was granted before I met wife they have had Medicare cards seperate from me my current one expires 2018. Is it possible to have us all under same Medicare card or do we get different ones?are there advantages or not by having seperate Medicare cards? As said mine has another 3years yet on it but we need to get her one and my daughters one ASAP so I need some info on best way to go about it as in which forms we need and as said I keep mine as is and wife and daughter gets there own.thanks
  8. Wa always has or had the most work for me in the years looking into moving here, also I know guys from my industry who used to live here before for many years who also moved back due to lack of work, problem is I have been here when there has been a lot of work and has made no difference. and I get the odd manager saying got an impressive cv etc I certainly is who you know here and what you know.
  9. In trying to settle in a new country work plays a big part in this and to have done 5 months work in last 22 months is a joke with wife and child to support just cause I had my dream of being here and spent a small fortune on all our visa, agent fees, moving our stuff selling house back home its sort of understandable having thought of doing it all again going back minus visa costs.
  10. I never said I did not like the place just growing to not like it as things have not been going to plan or worked out like I thought it be and lack of jobs im getting vs what I have had in uk and watch my saving go down the drain each day, I know a guy who did a yr over here did same work as me and went back has no regrets. But his wife is Australian so maybe easy for him to come back if he needed to etc. It mau just be the right place to be or who knows not right place full stop. But out of the people we know or have known over here we thought it may not be for them or work out and im suprised it has.i suppose it work for some and not others but for us being almost 2 yrs coming we are not anywhere settled or different from first day of arriving.im willing to give it another yr but is it the right move second yr has not got any better than first.
  11. its 2016 I can apply for citizenship had this confirmed over phone call yesterday it's really the only thing sort of keeping me still here, but wife and Bub don't qualifity until 2017 so sometimes I wonder if even worth waiting for or what I will benefit by having it when wife and Bub will not.
  12. I just can't decided what to do in regards stick oz out longer or head back to UK,it's not really been a great 22 months out of this time done approx 5 months work in this time, that's probably more than the whole 24 yrs in my work at home. Came here just for a change possibly better place to bring up my daughter and maybe better myself etc in fact it's been opposite have went backwards and things don't be same or be getting any better. i did say after 1 yr going back but many need at least 2 yrs to settle so thought give it another year and again it's not really got any better and may get worse with some of the jobs I could be on coming to and end. The UK is not all sweet and has its issues also with work but at least I'm known there and been around and never struggled with work ever. As said all was well and would have been very sweet if still in UK having came here seems to be just getting us into a bigger and deeper hole and I wonder if it's all worth it. Just been asked by agent what we are doing with two months left on lease it's do we get sorted and make the move or say we extend lease and see how things turn out and if no chance just go and lose bond. There are jobs I'm waiting to here from here in oz but many I apply for or get called back about never seem to happen and I'm also waiting to hear back from jobs in UK also. Thing is I'm told that I could apply for citizenship June 2016 and thought I could wait for this but is it really worth staying possibly another year for? Our lives just seem to have stuck on hold since arriving here and just want to get it back to normal not also having our own house does not help after owning one for over 20yrs in the UK. i suppose with not settling and not getting the work I was trying for and have being messed around so much and many other things I have sor of grown to hate here but still wanna give it more time etc but really is this going to get better for us are we going to change with our views here etc. we have had fun times here etc but like some others who have been here much longer just does not feel like home. We have even spoke to met people who have better themselves got on very well and really had nothing back in UK so are staying in oz for us it was all going for us and not here in oz and I'm always thinking it's going to change or get better. For someone who has been in oz traveled and always wanted to live here have seen it in a different way. i just am not sure what to do for the best the little one is 3 in August and want to be settled before she starts school. i also feel negative all the time on what goes on here in oz,what people do and get up to etc yes all happens at home and probably cause I'm maybe annoyed being here or that things has not worked out like I thought they would.
  13. Are you guys not paying lads off sure I seen it in news few weeks ago?
  14. Anyone used them for container and if so how recent and how much as thinking to maybe get a quote, who else can I try it be perth to uk.
  15. 2900 surely not for a 40ft container you mean on the cost of a 20ft container if so who with
  16. Just out of interest I believe I'm able to apply next June 2015 1st when can I get the ball rolling and what are the steps to go about it,where I start, what I need and cost. also approx from applying for it to getting it how long does it take and also the test what is this about what questions are you asked etc
  17. I'm not sure to the questions asked in calculator the answers I would need to enter but this is a run down of myself and wife: Lodged 21st nov 2007 granted 14 august 2008 came in jan 2009 if i remember to validate visa and moved here 1st june 2013 to live. in these times was here for the month to validate and took my now wife over for a holiday again for one month in 2009,i had not been here until we moved as above 2013. So what does that mean as in the citizenship. Wife and bub had to do another visa partner 309 as i had mine before i met. she lodged 12 may 2012 granted 13 nov 2012 and as we arrived 1st june here to live she validated her visa there and then, she is now in the stage of doing here 100 partner visa second stage for her. she got her or 2014 but would need to check when in 2014.
  18. Unless things change soon i maybe looking to head back to uk,i was wondering anyone who came here and shipped back to uk, who you used, costs and what size of container used. I used whites back in uk who then use if i remember kent over here, all was fine apart from one large item with slight damage and couple of small items but overall was very happy. I am just looking to get quotes and need a list of companies who ship from perth to uk and take it from there. I have until end of june before i need to leave my rental so if i get things moving im half way there. If things change soon then i may extend my stay longer and will not need to move back. Ones i know of are. Grace wridgeways kent Im interested in knowing what you paid from here back to uk to compare also.
  19. Im not saying i dont like australia or i would not have been here or came in first place but all was good in uk, no reason to come over here but just a dream of mine and its not been easy as in work etc to the point sort of enough is enough. As i have spent a bit on visas etc for myself and child and myself many years ago i just was looking into my options,if it had been 2 yrs for citizenship then great i know what i would have been doing for sure,i dont know what the future holds as in we head back to uk or are still here or move back to uk and in later life come back to oz as it was better for us when the think back. But to be honest uk has been for us and im almost 2 yrs in and nothing has changed that much. Im sure someone said you can keep your pr going even when your in uk and not in oz,if i dont get citizenship and get a rrv for my pr then it lasts another 5yrs but wife will be about 4 yrs or there abouts as she got it last year through the 2 yr partner visa.
  20. Not sure what you mean are you saying that if i was a oz citizen and we moved back to uk then wife's time spent in uk can count for citizenship purposes? What say i dont reach the time required to apply for citizenship and we head back with pr can we keep the pr visa ongoing? Or do they expire after that time is up,i know they never expire but say 6 yrs time we wanted to come back and both our pr visa had run out. Im really unsure as to whats ahead but more likely heading back as in the 2 yrs nothing has really made us want to stay here ie my work has been a joke etc and only going to get worse,im surprised i lasted this time already,i couple of jobs may see us both stay here another year or so but its looking more likely not at this stage and need to start planning a move. In some cases, if a PR must live overseas with an Australian citizen partner, that time can be counted as time spent in Australia for citizenship purposes. Otherwise, the fact that you're a citizen will make it easier for them to get Resident Return visas which will allow them to return as PRs.
  21. Does that count if validated in 2009 jan came again for holiday for one month same year dec 2009 and not move here until 2013 june?
  22. I came here 2009 to validate my visa and then went back to uk in June 2013 I moved here,i wanted to know to q qualify for citizenship june 2016 as im hearing that first 12 months don't count? I am looking to return to uk and if I'm here till then then great but if I don't im wondering if I go this June 2015 and get a rrv for my pr visa before I leave can you keep renewing your pr every 5 yrs from uk? i know to ever get citizenship I would need to stay here the time required,so if I moved back and then came back here I would start over again right? in regards to the citizenship ship I got my pr visa before I met my wife had a kid and wife got partner visa granted back in 2012 then I think last year 2014 completed the second part and got here pr. So I believe she would need to wait a bit longer to get citizenship but my question is say we just could not live here long enough for her to get citizenship what does this do or help in future if I have citizenship will it be easier to move back not that I'm saying I would. And as our kid is linked to wife's pr visa if I got citizenship before wife did can our kid get it with me or does kid need to wait till mum gets her citizenship. It be nice if could all have got citizenship but not sure if we be here long enough for that but maybe will for mine pending what we plan on doing.
  23. well I came here in 2009 to validate my visa if I remember right jan/feb 2009 but never made the move here until June 2013. so what does this mean for citizenship?
  24. Living in perth looking to maybe make a move back to uk,not sure if a 40ft container or a 20ft container will be used, but I was wondering anyone who moved back who did you use and how recent was it and what was your quotes or price. its on the cards to make a return unless things get better for me so just wanted to start the ball rolling on a possible move or costs.
  25. I have been trying gorgon since was before I came here and already have applied with Wheatstone last time I spoke with them they said at least March/April before they take on that was months ago the said this.i even applied for one job the other day they emailed next day said not take my application to next stage. I was pretty shocked to be knocked back so quick. i did email back asking why,it's not as if I have lack of experience or not been around must companies would snap me up in a heart beat, here it's a different story they just don't care less about you.
