  1. Hi BEGal, I work at the company the jobs are on offer, Austal Ships. I'm a Supervisor there and have been asked to recruit through the same avenue's I tried when coming over last July or from my previous place of work. There is an incentive for me if I manage to recruit people that are good workers and stick around for a while so would prefer it if you sent the resume to me but your more than welcome to contact Austal's directly. All the jobs are there on offer whichever route you choose. It will bypass the system if it comes through me but the outcome will be the same so completely up to you. I couldn't find any company's offering 457's straight up when I was trying so figure this may be a good opportunity for the right people. It's a good company to work for and they definitely respect and reward committed workers with their head screwed on. Regards, Tom
  2. Great opportunity for above mentioned trades. My Employer is looking to take on a lot of workers starting after Christmas. Good reliable company in Perth building Government and Commercial Aluminium Vessels. 4 day 40 hour week as standard with overtime Friday and Saturday when we are busy. 457 visa's available to all trades!!! Send me your Resume for it to be fast tracked to HR.
  3. I came over last August on a working holiday visa. I was warned by a few people on the internet that I was taking a big risk and I didn't have a great plan. It's now 10 months on, I was offered a 457 after 2 months and I accepted after 6. Once I had decided to stay out here I started the ball rolling for a PR application and come September the 4th I will have enough points to apply and fingers crossed will have the visa by Christmas. I am single with no kids so I only have me to worry about if things go wrong. Don't ignore the people warning you off but don't let it put you off too much either. Its a bit of a risk but it may be the best risk you ever take
  4. Someone who knows for certain will come along soon to answer properly. I would say though that it may be easier to do the 457 transfer then you or your new employer are not pushed for time to get everything sorted for the 186.
  5. Thanks for the reply, thats great news Being in Australia wont be a problem, I am currently in Perth on a 457 and dont intend on going anywhere else apart from the 3 month Europe trip. It seems like I will need a specific reference number linked to my application to book the medical. At what point can I get hold of this number and how do I get it?
  6. Hey all, so I have my technical interview on Thursday for skills assessment, and once September the 4th comes around I can claim points for Australian work experience and apply for a 189 visa  There is a strong chance that I will be heading to Europe for 3 months from the middle of September to carry out some warranty work for my company. I really would like to get my application in so hopefully someone can start processing it while I'm away. Is it possible to upload medical and PCC with my other documents or do I have no other option but to wait to do medical once a CO is allocated? Tom
  7. So I think I have everything I need to make an application to Vic Uni to have my skills assessed. I have 2 employer statements from my last 2 employers which covers the required work experience in the last 3 years. On the application form it asks to list all relevent positiions that I have been employed in and employer statements for all. I have worked for a third relevant company in the last few years but was not going to include this as the company has now closed down and I wont be able to get any evidence. So do I include the position on the application form but include no evidence? Do I leave it out but still put it on my CV? Or do I just leave it out all together? For submitting the photo's; do I stick 2 photos to the application form and scan it and email it? Or do I send just this page of the application form by post with the photos attached? Or just send 2 certified photos in mail? Thanks all!
  8. Thank you very much for the books bud, I will pass them on once I'm finished with them
  9. I will second parts of what Rupert has said from my personal experience. You would probably be better off getting some solid experience in the UK first before you come over and try and make it, especially in the current work climate over here. I came over to Perth on a working holiday visa 4 weeks ago, I'm a boilermaker/boat builder by trade. I've come across quite a few job adverts stating 'Working Holiday Visa holders need not apply'. I was very fortunate to get a job building boats in my first week of looking but that was out of 15 applications and I only heard back from 1 application. They have offered me a 457 while I apply for permanent residency but I now need to think long and hard before I give up the working holiday visa and potentially be stuck with this employer until the PR go's through. I may have no choice though since there is plenty of boilermakers with PR looking for work over here at the moment so its pretty unlikely for me to find any other work. I'm definitely not complaining, its nice to have at least a couple of options and feel very lucky to have found a job so quick. It just gives you an idea of what situation you could end up in
  10. Interesting question that I've wondered about before. Im in Perth on a WHV but want to put an EOI in for PR. At what stage would I need to leave the country? I've also noticed there is an onshore and offshore vetassess option? Sorry for the thread jack but thought the answer to this may be useful for others attracted to this thread.

    EOI and IETLS

If you have 60 points already then you don't need any extra points from gaining a high score in IELTS. Whether you still need to pass a certain mark I'm not 100% sure.
  12. Thanks for the replies. Sorry I wasn't very clear and was really meaning are there any restrictions on applying for certain visa's whilst already having a visa. If a visa is denied could this affect the visa you currently hold etc...
  13. I need to have my skills assessed by vetassess and they ask for a minimum of 12 months experience in the last 2 years of your nominated skill or something very closely related. Not sure if your assessing body would be the same but its something to bear in mind.
  14. Hey all, So I've been in Perth a few weeks now on a working holiday visa. I've been offered a job and after the 3 month probation period, as long as both parties are happy, they have offered to switch me over to a 457 visa whilst I apply for permanent residency off my own back. Now I'm just wondering if any issues may arise from this situation or is this a fairly normal situation? Thanks PIO
