    The Frankston City Council is situated in Victoria in the Southern suburbs of Melbourne. It is right on the Eastern shore of Port Phillip Bay and it is bounded on the north by the city of Kingston and the city of the greater Dandenong, on the east by the city of and it is on the south by the Shire of Mornington Peninsula

     

    It is about 40 kilometres South of Melbourne’s central business district. Frankston has an area of 131 square kilometres. It was recorded at the 2016 census to have a population of approximately 139,511 people. The population density is 10.75 people per hectare. It has an area size of 131 square kilometres.

     

     

    Frankston City is very much a residential area including some rural residential, industrial, commercial and rural areas.

     

    Suburbs located in Frankston City Council include areas like Carrum Downs, Frankston, Frankston North, Frankston South, Karingal, Langwarrin, Sandhurst, Seaford and Skye.

     

    In 1860 the major part of the city of Frankston was first incorporated as the Mornington Roads District, it then became a shire in 1871 and it was renamed the shire of Frankston and Hastings in 1893. It lost its western riding to form the shire of Mornington, it has since been combined to form into the shire of Mornington Peninsula. The shire of Frankston and Hastings split into two on 19th of October 1960. The western part remained the Shire of Frankston, with the eastern part being incorporated as the Shire of Hastings.

Frankston is often referred to as the gateway to the Mornington Peninsula.

    There are many main features of Frankston that make Frankston-Frankston, these include the Frankston Town Centre, Bay-side shopping centre, Karingal Hub shopping, Monash University, Frankston Pier, George Pentland Botanical Gardens, Langwarrin, Langwarrin Flora and Fauna Reserve, The Pines Flora and Fauna Reserve, Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands, Frankston Reservoir, Frankston Arts Centre, Frankston Beach, Seaford Beach and various golf clubs.

    In 1854 Frankston was established. It had its first land sales taking place on 29th of May. It lies on the eastern shoreline of Port, it has been a popular seaside destination of Melbourne since the 1880’s. One of the most frequently visited beach in Victoria is Frankston Beach and it is also recognised as one of the most cleanest beaches in Australia. Frankston is home to one of the largest exhibitions of sand sculpting in the Southern Hemisphere. 

     

    Whether you’re in Frankston for a holiday, you live there, you need to get out and about or want to take the kids out there are many well know fun attractions in Frankston. Just as mentioned before there are many features that make Frankston-Frankston. Frankston is known for acquiring some interesting and fun attractions.

    Some attractions include the Ballam Park Homestead Frankston Historical Society. This is a French style country farmhouse. It was built by Frederick Liardet in 1854. It is full of world charm and is now home to the Frankston Historical Society. It features a beautiful cottage garden, heritage listed trees, a collection of farm machinery and implements, blacksmiths shop, period museum and Devonshire tearoom.

     

    The City of Frankston Bowling Club is a popular attraction in Frankston. The club caters for all people. The club is set in a warm friendly environment. A bonus is that you don’t have to go there a professional when there is free coaching available. It caters for all ages and fitness levels. It is open to people of all abilities. It features a fully licensed bar and ample parking.

     

    The average median price for a house is $564,00. The annual capital growth is 7.93%. The number of sales is 698. The weekly median rent is $370. The quarterly growth is 4.44%. For a 12-month growth it is 7.93%. The gross rental yield is 3.41%. For a unit the median price is $367,500. The annual capital growth is 5.85%. The number of sales is 402.     In terms of education there are a few good schools. There is Mt Erin Secondary College, Elizabeth Murdoch Secondary, Karingal Park, the choice of a top school differs depending on what are of Frankston you are in. Karingal Primary has a Montessori stream within the school and there is a Montessori centre in Langwarrin, which is in City of Frankston and about 10 mins from main shops. There are a few Catholic Primary schools in Frankston and John Paul College, which is the secondary, as well as private/ independent schools Bayside Christian College, Woodleigh, Flinders Christian College (Carrum Downs) as well as Peninsula. It depends on what you’re looking for in a school and where abuts you are looking but this is just a few of the top schools.


    If you are wanting a day out to treat yourself why not go shopping. In Frankston you will find Bayside Shopping centre. Bayside Shopping centre is a three major regional shopping centre located in the heart of Frankston. It is approximately 50 kilometres south of Melbourne CBD. It offers the main stores like Myer, Kmart, HOYTS Cinema, Coles, and Woolworths, Toy RUs and includes more than 195 other stores.  To get to Bayside Shopping Centre it is fairly easy and many services operating.  Just located 5 minutes lies the Frankston railway line which offers frequent train services to Frankston station. The shopping centre also has bus connections to Mornington East, Portsea, Pearcedale, Carrum and surrounding suburbs. Bayside shopping centre has a multi level car pack with 3,452 spaces.

    Karingal Hub Shopping Centre is a regional shopping centre complex located in Frankston. It is approximately 40 kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD. Karingal Hub has Big W, two Woolworths stores, a village cinema, with 99 more speciality stores.

     

    There are many options and sources of transport in Frankston making it easy getting around Frankston. To obtain copies of bus and train timetables for the Frankston region you can source them online and you can also get them in hard copy at the Frankston Visitor Information Centre and Frankston Railway Station in Young Street Frankston. There are a few Catholic Primary schools and John Paul College which is the secondary as well as private/ independent schools Bayside Christian College, Woodleigh, Flinders Christian College (Carrum Downs) as well as Peninsula. To make your travel more simple and quick you will require a myki card which is a reusable smart card which needs to be topped up before your journey which you then touch on and off a myki reader as you travel which you can use on trains, trams and buses.
