    Bayswater, Melbourne

    Located in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne just 29km from the CBD, Bayswater is a thriving community with an approximate population of 12,000.

    Recent statistics show that the population is made up of 50.2% Females and 49.8% Males and that the average age is 38 years.

    Surrounded by endless opportunies as well as a newly renovated train station completed in mid 2017, Bayswater is a modern and ideal place to live, work or play.

    Enjoy a morning coffee at one of the many award winning cafes such as Montano’s Patisserie and Coffee Interchange café, all within walking distance to the train station.

     

    Real Estate

    Rent or buy your dream home with real estate agents that include Appleby, Barry Plant and Ray White.

    The average price for a 2 bedroom/ 2-bathroom rental property is around $380 per week, however expect to pay slightly more if you are closer to the station and main street.

    Buying average price is around $750,000.

     

    Accommodation
    If you are looking to stay in a hotel/ motel you would be looking at around $130 per night for 5-star accommodation.

    Local accommodation includes; The Golden Pebble and the Quality Inn, which are both located just outside of Bayswater.

    Unfortunately, you will not find any accommodation within the suburb of Bayswater but of course there are always house vacancies from time to time where people go away or list their properties as
    accommodation.

     

    Shopping

    Shopping in Bayswater includes three major supermarkets; Woolworths, Aldi and Coles with the closest shopping precinct being Mountain High Plaza, which also includes Anytime Fitness gym, Discount Direct pharmacy and Dimmeys.

    Bayswater is also the headquarters of the Knox Opportunity Shop which is volunteer run.

    If you are looking for some more retail therapy or a new wardrobe Knox City shopping centre is just the place. Only 5.3km away this popular shopping complex boasts many of the major retailers such as Target, Kmart, Woolworths, Coles, The Reject shop, Toys R Us and Myer as well as smaller retailers such as Ally Fashion, Prouds Jeweller’s and Cotton On.

    Knox City prides itself on the large fresh food complex which has a range of fresh meats, fruits and vegetables and bakeries.

    If you are wanting to have a romantic night out or just have dinner with friends, look no further than Ozone which is located outside the shopping centre and features restaurants of all flavours and tastes including, Indian, Chinese, Australian, Mexican, Italian and Thai.

    Afterwards treat yourself to a film at Village Cinemas, also located in Ozone.

     

    Education
    Public Education facilities include; Bayswater primary school, Bayswater South Primary School, Bayswater West Primary School and Bayswater Secondary College.

    There is also one privately funded primary school.

    The closest Tafe is Swinburne Wantirna or Swinburne Croydon. They provide a range of courses in all different study areas.

    These are all easily accessible by public transport including trains and buses.

     

    Recreation

    If you are a sport fan or just want to take the kids to the park, Bayswater Reserve is your go to place.

    Situated just 2km from the station and main street, Bayswater reserve features a large oval which is home to the Bayswater football club (EFL), and 2 tennis courts as well as a large playground area where children will have hours of fun and adventure.

     

    Transport
    Public Transport is a breeze around Bayswater. Located on the Belgrave train line, is a recently upgraded train station with more than 350 car parking spaces as well as a bus interchange and is accessible by lift and stairs. Bus route numbers include 755 and 745. A train ride from Bayswater to the CBD is approximately 26 kilometres.


    Bayswater is within the ‘City of Knox’ council and the Aston Voting electorate.

    Surrounding suburbs include Bayswater North, Boronia, Knox, Wantirna and Ferntree Gulley.

     

    Medical

    Modern Medical Bayswater receives 5 stars for its medical centre located in the Mountain High Plaza. Featuring seven medical practitioners and four members of nursing staff,
    Modern Medical is open until 6pm most nights and is convenient, trusted and well known by fellow locals.

    Also, located locally and receiving 4.5 stars for its practice is Knox medical centre which currently has 8 medical practitioners and is open until 8pm most nights.

    Both clinics feature bulk billing.

    Pharmacies in this area include Bayswater Amcal Pharmacy open 8.30am until 9pm Monday – Friday and 9am until 6pm Saturday and Sunday.

    Situated within the Mountain High Plaza is Direct Chemist Outlet, open Monday to Friday 8.30am until 6pm, Saturday 9am until 5pm and Sunday 10am until 4pm.

    Both pharmacies stock a wide range of products and brands for all your medical and pharmaceutical needs.

     

    Employment

    Employment opportunism is large within this area, with areas including retail, hospitality, marketing, building/construction and childcare.

    Also bringing in large amounts of work is the factory complex which is only 1km from the main street in Bayswater.

    If you need your children cared for whilst at work there are several childcare centres available, all with open positions as of current.

    Centres include Goodstart early learning, Community Kids Bayswater and Little Jazzys as well as a range of family day care services and kindergartens.

     

    Eateries

    Whether you prefer eating out or ordering in there is a large range of take away and fast food retailers available.

    These include; McDonalds, Fish and Chips, Charcoal Chicken, Thai, Indian, Chinese, Noodle Bar and many pastry shops.

     

    Bayswater is a family friendly and pet friendly suburb but also suits couples, the elderly, workers, students and those with no vehicle transportation.

    Overall Bayswater is the ideal place to live, work and play and will only grow over the coming years.

    I worked there for 25 years. It is a suburb on the up- used to be not too good for various reasons.
