Perth, WA or Brisbane, Queensland...???

We have just received our permanent visa & are moving over to Oz in June 2012 with our 4 children (10, 8, 6 & 0). My husband is a Joiner/Carpenter.

We have always planned to go to Queensland within an hour of Brisbane, either Gold or Sunshine Coast. We don't know anyone there. Recently, 5 different families that we know well have moved/or are moving to Perth & I also have some family there. I am now wonderring whether we should stick to our original plan & go to Queensland in the hope of making new friends, or go where we will know friends/family already in WA?

I don't really want to move again once we are there, so really want to make the right decision.

Can anyone offer any advice???

Congratulations on your visa!

Why don't you check available job positions (http://www.seek.com.au/, http://mycareer.com.au/, http://www.careerone.com.au/), price and the availability of the properties for rent (http://www.realestate.com.au/rent), how far is the beach, schools for the children, possible commuting time etc., and then make a decision?

You want the best for you, don't you? In my opinion, having friends and family around certainly helps, but take all into consideration...

Good luck!

Congratulations on the visa ... this is one of those times though that only you and your family can make the decision because our opinions vary greatly. My brother lives in QLD but we chose to migrate to Perth because the lifestyle and climate we were looking for was here.

I've lived in both, Perth wins hands down! Brissy is nice, and cheaper, but it's hot as hell and not in a good way, going so far to the beach isn't great either. Perth all round is better in my opinion, great beaches, longer and more enjoyable summer although it's more isolated so you can expect delivery times on internet shopping to be a little longer. Something for everyone in Perth, as long as you can make the $$$ as its also more pricey. Have a look at Fremantle I love it there!
