tonyman
Those of you who have moved over to WA, can I ask why you chose this part of Australia? i chose WA as it has a faster internet connection than other states and only 7/8 ahead of uk thus allowing me to communicate with both sides of the world who are criminally insane ....... seriously though ........WA is a fantastic place as we have said before , the climate is just perfect..........some of the best beaches in the world.........most work places have fridges everywhere and fill them with beer for the lads and lasses , something i never experienced in the uk ...but here its the norm..........its a lovely place to be .....people are friendly, tend to keep themselves to themselves ,met some lovely genuine friends over here though.......nice kayaking rivers , good cycling tracks ........could go on all night but probs end up in a slanging match with someone who`s going back to the uk .......hope this helps

First post! This was so nice to hear! We are at the beginning of our planning/decision to move to OZ and after some initial research we are keen on Perth area. Does anyone know what work is like for Senior Mental Health Nurses and Social Workers? I have read that the schools are good and this is crucial to us as we have a son with Autism that needs a good structured school. We have started our work with a nursing agency but glad to have found this site as there is no better expert than someone that's already done it! ghost
Im not there yet. But who wants to walk around shops on a Sunday when you can hit the beach ?
cazmayo
God my life doesnt revolve around the shops!!! Do you shop as a hobby or as a necessity!!!! It simple, just go when the shops are opened. Are they not opened late of an evening (when I lived there they were opened late on a thurs) whatever. Shopping hours would not be high up on my list of deciding factors moving to a place!! For me Sun is a family day! and Perth has some gorgeous places to be having some family fun. This from a woman!!!!! Great Climate Great work opportunities More affordable than Sydney or Melbourne Beautiful city, easy to find your way around Beautiful beaches I worked hard there, and was greatly appreciated and rewarded workwise. People friendly (made some lifelong friends there) kind regards cazmayo

Guest turboman
It like going back 20 years in time, remember the uk back then? well Perth is like that but better. Shops actually close on Sundays to give everyone a life. Nobody is selfish, everyone keeps themselfs to themselfs but will always except newbies. You have to make the effort though and don't give up. You have to prove your not a Stereo type Brit. Reason is because the aussies have made their country unique and wonderful and don't want it spoilt like the UK. They don't understand how hard we have to try to get in their country and only the best of the best are accepted. Wish they had thought of that in the UK. They can be negative towards the poms but they love us really, It will take you a year or so to understand this. My advise is, ,,,, your going to Aus so learn how they do things and be part of what they do and Never say " but in England we do this" Their country is better than ours so lets learn from them and do our best to keep it that way.
