Guest Aussie2B
Hi Aussie2bWe don't have a CO yet, but our agent emailed me the other day saying that it should have a CO allocated this week coming. Our agent was at a meeting the other week and the feedback he received was that DAIC are processing visa applications within 2 weeks of receipt. I am hearing different stories about the need for medical checks. On one hand I am hearing my wife and I will need all checks plus chest x-ray whilst our kids only need basic health checks. The hospital in UK that we would attend for these checks have said wait until DIAC tell you what they require as they might only want basic checks for us all. Yet our online visa status shows that these checks are outstanding. Don't know what to do? Regards Breezer Hey Breezer, Yeah, the generic email DIAC sends out with an update on the processing times also states a CO should be allocated within 2 weeks of confirmation of SS nomination. So that would be great, but then again - I'll believe it when it actually happens! With regards to your medical checks - I would definitely wait to hear back from your CO so you know exactly what you need to do. I did my medicals back in 2008, before they started to freeze applications, so they have now expired which means I'll have to do them again. As far as I know, adults will need to do a full medical including chest x-rays, but for kids I'm not sure what is required. I wouldn't waste any money though, so just wait till your CO tells you what they need and then you can book the medicals accordingly... Let me know when you've been assigned a CO! Fingers crossed it will be this week! Good luck, Aussie2B.

Breezer
Can anyone tell me if office manager will still be on the list for ACT when it is revised? My wife is an office manager and we are just about to submit skills assessment. Hope we have time to get to ss stage soon and it does not come off the list! Hi Simon9274 Yes, Office Manager is on the SMP for ACT as of 1st July 2011 albeit 'limited'. Check what group you will be in for time scales to process your visa application once you have SS from ACT. Good luck. Breezer

Guest Orion25
Hi guys, Yesterday I got the fantastic news I received sponsorship from the ACT! My agent had made some submission errors, so the whole thing was quite delayed, but thankfully everything got back on track thanks to the great team at the SBM unit... Anyways, here is my time line: Name: Aussie2B Date of SMP application: around mid March Trade/profession: Advertising Specialist Visa type: 176 Delays/further docs requested: Submission errors by my agent caused the decision to be delayed SS received: July 8th 2011 Form 1100 Uploaded: Sent to DIAC on July 8th 2011 Visa Filed: September 6th 2008 (originally lodged a 176 Family Sponsorship visa) Comments: Does anybody know how long it generally takes to get a CO assigned under the new priority group 3? It says in their processing update email it would take about 2 weeks from notifying DIAC of SS, but I am not sure if that is realistic with the new system/criteria having just kicked in etc. I guess I will have to wait and see.. Good luck to everyone waiting on a decision! Hi There Aussie2B, Most people we know including ourselves are getting CO's within 2 weeks of their form 1100 reaching the processing centre. We applied 30 May got CO 14 June and have done our meds this past Monday and now we wait for the BIG SUPER SPECIAL MAIL staing WE"VE GOT IT. Good luck and keep us posted on how things proceed. Guest desire
Hi all, Mongobaer has been so kind to point me to this thread. Maybe I'd first introduce myself. I'm a cat5 visa applicant, who has been assessed as a 2231-11 Systems Manager by the ACS. I'm currently applying for state-sponsorship with the ACT. Right now, the letter of motivation is giving me a pretty hard time. While there's nothing much one can do about the rest of the documents (either the meet the requirements, or not), this letter seems to be the only part which I can influence and might be an important part of the acceptance of my application. Also I've been lucky enough to have spend a couple of days in the Canberra and have done some online research about the ACT, I don't really have an idea how and what to write in this letter to make my application irresistible for the respecitve case manager. So here's my cry for help. Could anyone give me a push in the right direction, or has any ressources that could help writing my own letter? Any help, hints and support is greatly appreciated. desire

Let me know and ill let you know what we said in our commitent statement.
Guest desire
You're certainly right. I meant the commitment statement, not letter of motivation. Guess I'm still a bit confused after reading through all the documents...
Breezer
You're certainly right. I meant the commitment statement, not letter of motivation. Guess I'm still a bit confused after reading through all the documents... Hi Desire What ACT are looking for in your commitment statement is why they should grant you SS? Why you have chosen ACT and not Sydney or Perth or Melbourne for example? But its not all about what ACT can give you (and your family) its also about what you will bring to ACT - your skills (job), your money to spend on their economy (this includes joining clubs such as tennis, Rugby, Golf and other similar recreational activities). If you have children write about them attending the local schools (Private or Govt funded, Catholic or not) and that they will grow up and gain employment in ACT which again adds to their economy plus it shows commitment and not just a stop gap. Purchasing a property for your family and buying a car/motorcycle/vehicle, etc. My first attempt ran to about 5 pages but I had to reduce this prior to final submission to only 2 pages so be to the point dont ramble!:chatterbox: Also how you will finance your arrival and stay in ACT if SS is approved. Go onto the website and type in google Australia. Once on this site look up schools in or near residential areas such as Belconnen, Page, Flynn, Tuggeranong, etc. Open a second web page and type in google maps then when this site appears type Canberra which gives you a good map showing the ACT which you can zoom in to see the different areas/suburbs. Best of luck and hope the above is helpful? Breezer
Guest desire
Hi Breezer, thanks for opening my eyes. I was so focused on describing what the ACT means to me, that I forgot to mention what I have to offer. No wonder my first drafts seemed so imbalanced to me:wink: Thanks again. desire
