We brought 2 labradors over here 3 years ago & it cost us roughly 4,500 thousand pounds all in for the 2, that was paying a company to do the lot, (sorting paperwork, vaccinations, flights transport etc). Also depends on if you do the paperwork yourself or hire a company. And consider that some airlines on ship pets if they are shipped via a company therefore ensuring everything is complied to. Quarantine fees (30 days in Sydney, Melbourne or Perth) and then shipping dog to your location all factor in. Will need to book quarantine about 6 months in advance iirc. You have to arrange that separately (or possibly your shipping company will arrange but won't pay). Also it probably doesn't include the vets fees and charges for jabs etc prior to flying. That can run into hundreds of pounds this end. If it does then that is cheap for a GSD as they require a pretty large crate (price is based on crate size not weight). Seems alot and thats only a silver service I have to do paperwork. Can anyone give me any company names that I can maybe get some more quotes from! Company want £1550 included in that is £725 for flight, £270 import permit, £120 vet to seal crate, £72 crate and other bits and bobs. That doesnt include vets fees about £600 our vet told us and quarantine daily rates and stuff which comes to aus$ 1305. Hi We are in the same position, my hubby loves the dog but says we cannot spend that much and that we could buy loads of pups for that much, which wasn't what I wanted to hear. The other problem is that we have spent years trying to convince our 2 teens that it will be a better life for them that this will change their minds again. I foster for a dog rescue and so am well used to the problems faced when rehoming a much loved pet. Have you contacted a/the Cocker Spaniel breed rescue? I am sure there would be one. The official breed rescues are usually really good at helping rehome a dog and given enough time you could probably do your own homechecks, met prospective owners and ensure he stays in the area and you'll be able to know he is settled into his new home before you go. Also people who register with these breed rescues, wanting to give a dog a home are usually a good bet in terms of finding the right home for each dog. You at least know the people actually want the dog rather than running the risk the family member is only doing it because they feel a bit guilty or some such. Far better to match the dog to the right people than going with a family member just because. Getting a dog is such a personal thing and while someone in your family may take him in, he may not be the kind of dog they ever really wanted to own. Of course, someone in your family may adore him, have the time to commit to owning a dog for the next 8-10 years or so and want to take him on but please consider the dogs interests first and foremost above your own. I'm looking into shipping my dog from Dublin to oz and Iv had quotes for the flights, but I have to get started on the paper work and his vacs and so on. I was just wondering if you organised all the paperwork yourself, and where did you start!! I have'nt a clue where to start at all!! The paper work is so overwhelming!! We live in Ireland but are bringing them to the UK ourselves to send from there. I rang Qantas and BA and neither (meaning Heathrow) will deal with teh public anymore, they make you use a pet agency. At this stage I reckon if I have to pay the agency anyway then I may as well let them to the paperwork. Btw, my quotes have ranged from £4,700 to £8,500 and that doesn't include quarantine! The dogs have to have enough room to stand up and turn round. Quarantine is around $800 per dog I was told. It wasn't included in our quote as we had to arrange payment/booking for that seperately.
