Hi gal

Almost everyone is facing a 4 year pay freeze, except bankers and next year millions of us will have to pay alot more for our pensions, which is tecnically a loss of pay, its just how it is............ thankyou Gordon and thankyou Mr Vanker, i mean banker.

Looks like more health workers will be looking to head out to greener pastures. Bridget got 2 more emails today from ex colleagues looking to come here but they don't qualify due to age so have to look for sponsorship.

TBH ropey, i not got much sympathy for most public sector workers. My sister has a pub just accross the road from a council office, the workers would come in for their lunch and the stories of slothdom would turn your stomach. Front line doctors and nurses I have the greatest respect for and believe they are worth their weight in gold.

But next time you (nothing personal:wink:) complain about a pay "freeze" count yourself luck that you aint a bricky out in the cold laying concrete blocks down a trench ankle deep in water for less money you where getting 1o years ago.

Sorry for rant.:wubclub:

Your not on your own adrewepepin also has a downer on Public sector workers, i have no idea why anyone would have, but each to their own, making any similarities to builders again doesn't make any sense to me, i see whats happening to builders and its disgraceful, but pointing at other workers as though its something to do with them, well............ i just don't get it, we ALL chose our line of work and thats that to me, like or lump it or leave it.

Millions are effected by whats going on, its a fact and the unions are going to try and unite the workers to go on strike, which................ is the last thing i want to do, i am really well off and i'm not happy to have to pay for the banks and governments mess, but something has to be done, but................. if strikes come, i will have to join in or............ become a scab and i can't do that.

My wife a nurse ward sister, has put in for redundency and me a screw put in for redundency in March and i am going to put in for it again next month. When the evil witch Thatcher was in power nurses never got a decent pay rise and it wasn't until useless Labour got in power that their pay was made up to the levels of other emergency services, but.................. it looks like the Tories are at it again.

I have now finnished work (theatre nusre) to prepare for the move so this now won't affect me.I am totally disgusted at this news and can only imagine how you and others are feeling. They don't seem to care about the invaluable work we do and that most NHS workers regulary stay longer than their allotted hours to make sure both patients and collegues are ok. They expect more to be done in less hours with fewer staff. This could be the final nail in the coffin for the NHS.AARRRggggHHh.

You'll get that here also. My wife finished at 9.30, it's now approaching 11pm and she ain't home yet (work is 10 minutes away). The difference though is that she loves her work and knows that she is appreciated when she often stays late. She doesn't get rewarded with overtime for staying but can take what they call "toil" ie she can take the time back (leave early) when things are quieter.

Im not sure if ts a blanket NHS thing but i doubt it is it says t takes effect on the 15th November 2010.

I should have done my last shift last sunday but agreed to stay on till mid december because they wont find a replacement for me, i was going to just go but then i felt bad our clinic is the only one in the south west to do nerve condution studies which means if their is nobody doing the clinics their could potentially be loads of people out their with undiagnosed motor neurone disease

The NHS really neads to get its butt in gear i asked my boss why i had no replacement as yet and he said it was because the big hospital bosses wont finance it, completly shocking

I think you would be wise to think about what you are saying before going off on one.

You will find that i do indeed have it in for some public sector workers like teachers and some civil servants etc, however i have made exceptions for doctors and nurses as i believe they should be the exception to the rule, i think a pay freeze would have been more than adequate. Also as far as builders are concerned i as a tax payer do not pay for them out of my taxes as i do for public sector workers so if i want to have my say on it i feel as though that is my right.

I am in shock that pay cuts are being given instead of a freeze! The annoying thing is how badly things are being run and the money being wasted, I am sooooooo beyond glad I'm out of the NHS! My sympathies go to anyone being affected in this way, you must feel absolutely soul destroyed!

The government has just announced that it is effectively abolishing NICE, the 'value for money' committee that stopped drug companies charging extortionate amounts for NHS medicines. Big Pharma gets a blank cheque, NHS employees get a pay cut/pay freeze.
