Guest fieldownunder Posted April 24, 2008 Share Posted April 24, 2008 Living in Southport Richard & Magda (too old to remember exactly how old we are - let's say early 40s!) 2 boys: Alex (10) & Marcus (7) Still haven't found work ... it's a long story about Richard (10 yr UK qualified property lawyer) having to requalify doing 18mo study + cost of $40K min!!! :arghh:Not sure he'll do it. This is the beginning of our 3 week and still feel like we are on a rollercoaster. We have been really welcomed by our friend Kerry and her family who we met on this site but still missing home and the familiar things you do and missing friends. We were shocked at the state schools, they are so all fashioned but the class sizes are small. Nath will be going to Cleveland Primary after the hols so any contacts there would be great. We are also going to look at the Private schools too and the government seems to put more money into them than the state schools!!!!! Mike who is a builder is finding it hard to get a break here and find work. You seem to need a licience for everything!!! We arrive 5th November and again not quite sure where we will end up. Initally we have a 4 week holiday rental on Hope Island. So we are also keen to meet up with any new arrivals. Saunders 5!
