The Cheshire Cat
We went to try Outback Jack's In Whitfords on Sunday night, to be blunt it was terrible, we sat outside in the freezing cold as the heater were broken! The service was ok at best, the food it was a complete rip-off, sent 1 meal back as the steak was overcooked. A bizzare concept where your drink orders and entree are taken at the table, but you must go inside to the counter to order mains? The steaks are displayed in a butchers meat counter, to be honest some of them looked as if they had been in there several days!!! My meal was $37 for a tiny piece of chew rump steak & 4 dry ribs with none-exsistant sauce, a handfull of chips, and a salad bowl clearly pre-made many hours if the the day before! One place to avoid for certain!
The Cheshire Cat
Last week visited little creatures in Freo, what a brilliant concept, and the beer was so nice, could of happilly downed many many pints of Roger's Smooth, Yum!!! The building i believe used to be a croc farm! Only ate a pizza, hand made and tasty, not cheap at $19. The place was very busy even on a Wednesday night and you have got to book a table if you wish to dine simple because its so busy!

We only had the pizza too but it was full of flavour and fresh. Hubs esp liked it there but they maybe because of the little creatures pale ale lol. The only down side to this place is the music, it was sooooo loud and we are not oldies who dont like music but you had to shout to hear each other.....maybe i am old or maybe we were sitting under a speaker....hmmmm im not sure lol Emma x
emmaj
We went here for a sunday roast - yummy! Its $18.50 for a beef dinner with the works except roadt spuds which may have been an oversight im not sure. The yorkshire pud was cold and a little tough but the gravy was fantastic and the amount of beef we were given was HUGE!! Veggoes were cooked to perfection, not too soft but not too hard. Hubs had the traditional dinner I ordered just the roast beef roll and chips ($10) as i wasnt that hungry, again we were given two huge slabs of meet (all tender and tastey) a good size portion of chips all smothered in gravy - totally yum oh and washed doen with a perfect pint of the black stuff! A yummy sunday lunch!! It does get busy so if you dont book and turn up at the wrong moment you may just have to enjoy a pint at the bar whilst youre waiting for a table. The Cheshire Cat
We visited The Woodvale Tavern last night, we've been meaning to go for ages. Anyway nice place inside, homely and welcoming, great atmosphere, Fox sports on numerous T.V.s. A wide variety of local & imported beers etc. Food; Excellent to be honest could not find fault with it! Main courses around $25 and good value, also specials from $15 for a Rump steak, chips & sauce, you also get a salad bar to help yourself from and crusty bread. The olny complaint we had was the wait, over an hour for our main courses to arrive, and whilst the restaurant was quite busy it wasn't full! Overall would recommend you give it a go, just be prepared to wait for your meals if its busy!
Guest Bexta
Another really nice place to eat is Halo Restaurant at Barrack St Jetty in Perth. Isn't cheap, but the food is amazing and they have a great wine list. I definitely reccommend getting a cheese platter at the end- yummo! Is definitely a "special occassion" place and is right on the water overlooking the river and south perth.

Guest klase
It's not in Perth, but my boyfriend and I eat out regularly, and this is BY FAR the best place we have ever eaten. Rustler's Steak House in Albany is great!! The best garlic bread I have ever eaten! My mum is a chef, so I am pretty picky with food, but it was so good. Every where we go now just doesn't compare. We are thinking we will have to have another trip down to Albany just to go again. I am a really big fan of calamari, but I don't like it deep fried. When the waitress was telling us the specials, and she said something about the calamari, I asked her if it was deep fried, she said no it wasn't. When it came out, it was proper calamari, in the most beautiful lemony-garlicy sauce. It was just so good (sorry everyone!) Their steaks are great too, cooked exactly to your liking. It's a bit pricey, but to be honest, great value for money, as you feel stuffed afterwards. And its best to make a booking, sounds weird, for Albany, but i went there a couple of years ago with my parents and a cousin from Holland, and we walked in off the street, and got the last table. And when the boyfriend and I went in June this year, they had to turn people away because they hadn't made a booking. Something to keep in mind when you head down south :cute: Klase
Guest 5x4_inches
If you are looking for the genuine South Asian food experience, take a stroll down William Street between Brisbane Street and James Street. Sparrow is a legendary basic Indonesean place with an excentric owner, good food, V cheap, BYO only. I had a half decent Sag Gosht at Mela which is fully licensed. Lido does excellent Vietnamese food and is also fully licensed, but the big TV is a bit off putting. I've heard good things about the Chinese food in the Red Teapot but I've not tried it myself. The Dim Sim cafe always has huge queues when I pass so I need to try it out, but unfortunately its not open in the evening. The Vietnamese food in Viet Hoa is also good, but the place is always too full and too manic for my liking - BYO. And if you don't fancy any of the above, there are dozens of alternatives! Guest migration angel
Hi Emma, There are a couple of great places in Sorrento. Voyage Kitchen Deli open from 7am to 5pm the best homemade fayre in Perth the coffee is excellent too. Great for brekkie and lunch. They have just won the state award for best cafe (Lifestyle Food I think). Everything is made on the premises which is rare in Perth as most cakes etc are usually bought in and the same everywhere you go. Voyage Kitchen and Delicatessen For a reasonable dinner if you are feeding a crowd try Fratelli. they do specials on Wednesday and Thursday from $11.50. It is packed out on those days so you need to book. Huge portions and BYO. http://yourrestaurants.com.au/guide/fratelli_restaurant/

Food and views were amazing but the service was a little slow esp as it wasnt busy. I ordered lamb shank but when it arrived it was lamb shankS and they were huge!! We also ordered a side salad which we thought would just be a standard salad but it was fantastic, lovely dressing full of freshness. Would def go back!! Guest heresken
This seems like the proper thread to ask if there any West Indian Roti restaurants in Perth I'll be moving there in the early new year?
themerseyrunsred
Hello emma If its Indian food your craving you should head to the cove restaraunt in Applecross. Food is absolutely spot on and is reasonably priced.Restaraunt itself is a beautiful old building, you almost feel like a guest in someones home. As for pub food, your a bit spoiled for choice, but the new Baldivis bar and Bistro is top class.I had a parmigiana there the other night which was enormous, not just big but top quality too.Missus had a quality roast, well recommended. On the flip side, don't ever waste your time going to the atrium at burswood casino, had a work party there the other night and it was truly the worst food I've ever eaten,If it wasn't festy it was just tasteless!!!
