At last we have had an e-mail giving approval! I e-mailed Vic directly as our agent must've been too busy to tell us himself as they had told him on 31st (holiday I know but there was still yesterday!) They are now waiting for a Visa tracking number which we don't have yet as we are yet to lodge our 176 visa. Need to wait for babies passsports to arrive before we can go any further!!

I have just checked the timeline for other life scientists on the visa timeline... Those who sent their application in january and february got their approved on April. Since, u've sent it in june and there's no industry panel on that month. 3 months from june is september... so, possibly this week or next week the industrial panel meeting will be held. hehehe... maybe its going on right now... hehehehe... ;) i'm getting excited... :P

Vinnie you are always so optimistic - I love it - you make me smile

I hope you are right and our industry panel get together and look at us soon.

there's an SA ss applicant who got his result through post and not from e-mail or the website. Do u think Vic would be doing that??

I think everyone at VIC has heard by email? I don't know but maybe it is state specific I think WA also wait for the postman each day.

n111kkx,

Oh.. in that case, i think they could not find your detailed resume in the database, so they e-mailed you asking for one. There were some people who couldn't upload their documents due to vic server problem. So, I'm presuming, your resume was lost in the db.

I have emailed regarding the more detailed cv request, and it turns out they didnt receive one at all - even though you have to add it to your application form? So nice and easy to just re-email - now fingers crossed!

Thank goodness you knew that the CV should have been sufficient and you emailed them rather than spending time trying to expand your CV further! Pity they did not just say that they had not received the CV at all.

I hope we are still in the system and have not been lost!!

akj who got vic ss on 29th june 2009 has got his visa approved in 3 months after submitting his application...

Wow - did you see his VIC SS approval time!

VIC SS Applied - 25 June 2009

VIC SS Approved - 29 June 2009

Good for akj - he must have ticked all the boxes and/or hit the industrial panel on the right day. :notworthy:

Even though I know there is not going to be anything there just went on to the on-line tracking to check.

Vinnie I saw this re your earlier query "You will be notified of the outcome of your visa sponsorship application through a ‘result’ email." which confirms you should hear by email.

Yes, definately. I just worked out its 60 days since my acknowledgment, so seeing otheres (especially those who've been waiting a bit longer) getting approved makes me feel a lot better.

No we have not heard from VIC other than the automated computer reply... hopefully that means CV was OK rather than we are lost on the database !!

We are getting to the stage when we are thinking of emailing to enquire (although hopefully it is related to the industrial panel meetings). But don't want to annoy them...

Yes, unfortunately noone is waiting longer than me now Cots has her's  .

I will be very worried if we have still heard nothing next week and Vinnie's premonition comes true and she gets her's next week (hope it does though Vinnie for both of us).

VickyMel,

Usually if they don't ask for further informaiton that means the informations provided are sufficient. Ur 10 weeks period has just finished. I think in about a week time, if there is no results yet, u can email them and ask bout your application. AFter all, they did promise us 10 weeks to process the application.

I wish i could see other life scientist timeline for vic ss... there are so few of them... i tried to google and look for other applicants but to no avail. Well, maybe there's something good behind this... it could mean that there are not many scientists moving there, so when we go there, we will definitely get a job  pronto!!! hehehe

Hello friends,

How are you all? Congratulations to all who already got their VIC SS. And all the best to rest of us who are still waiting on result for VIC SS. I would like to know that have you already applied for 176 visa? Or have you decided to first get state sponsorship and then apply for visa? It would be nice to know.Have a nice week ahead

I may be wrong but I think you can only apply for a 176 after you have been granted SS, I've applied for a 175 which I will convert to a 176 if my SS is successful. The reason for doing this is if I'm not given SS by 175 will already be in the queue, and hopefully will be considered on the rules at the time I applied, just in case the MODL or CSL changes and I'm no longer on them.

yes, u can apply for 176 while u wait for your state sponsorship... i haven't apply for visa yet... i'm going to wait for the state sponsorship first, then submit the application... i think it's faster that way... another forumer got his visa approved within 3 months of submission for visa...

Just had what looks like an automated email to say our application for SS was unsucessful!

Even though we have jumped through all the hoops and meet the criteria. This is what they said

"Thank you for your application for nomination under the 176 - Sponsored visa scheme.

Following a review of the information you have provided to the Skilled and Business Migration Program, we regret to inform you that the Victorian Government is not in a position to sponsor you under the 176 - Sponsored scheme.

This decision was based on an evaluation of your qualifications and your years of work experience, along with an assessment of your ability to successfully establish yourself and any dependents in Victoria. We need to ensure that our sponsored migrants have the necessary resources, support and commitment to successfully migrate to Victoria and it has been decided that your application was unsuccessful in this regard."

Just an automated email, as my husband has more qualifications than he knows what to do with, has been in the job since age 16 (now age 38), we have at least $150,000 in the bank to go to oz with and my sister lives there already! all crap! I dont believe it even went to a panel as they would have only got his cv today!

I have asked them for more information and if we have a right to appeal.

sad day

Im really sorry to hear that n111kkx. Will u be able to still get a visa without the sponsorship? To be honest I think there is a lot of politics behind who they are sponsoring and the lenght of time it is taking. Im waiting over 7 weeks now and I already live and work here in Melb, they shouldnt really need to consult an industry panel to know whether i "could" establish myself in Victoria. I wish I knew someone who worked in the Skilled Migration Program to get the inside scoop!

Thanks, at least we have only waited about 3 weeks. My husbands occupation is on SOL and MODL and listed as required in Geelong. Just really annoyed that it looks like an automated email with no real answers.

We do have enough points to go through a 175 route. We originally approached Victoria for a Regional Sponsorship and sent in the application and they actually emailed to advise us that we should apply for State Sponsorship as they need his trade and it would be better for us?

Who knows but we will continue and if need be do the 175 - just a bit put off that 175 applications seem to be bottom of the list and could take a very very long time
