Hi joe & Jan,

It really your choice what you do.

Depends if you are happy to stay in the state for 2 years or would prefer to have the choice to move if you dont like the state.

But dont forget the state you applied to will inform aspc as soon as you state ponsordhip is granted. And aspc will automaticaly change you to a 176.

The new Critical Skills List (CSL) will be applied to all General Skilled Migration applications which are lodged after January 1, 2009, and to those which did not have an allocated DIAC Case Officer by that date.

Australian visa applicants with occupations on the Critical Skills List are eligible to have their applications given priority processing over those with other occupations on the MODL.

Hi jacky,

I thought about the option but decided against it. An August 08 got a co today so i dont think you will have much of a wait.

In my opinon if you change to a 176 now you will probably end up waiting longer than if you had stayed with the 175. But this is only my opinon.

Hi when they say front loaded it means they have gone and had there meds done before them being request by co. The theory is that it should speed up your application as when your co gets your file everything is there and they dont have to request and wait for info.

Hope this makes sense

Hi carpetman,

Yes meds and police checks are only valid for 1 year. So which ever you had done first will be your date you will have to enter by. If you have not had your visa issued by the time they run out then you will have to have them re done.

It is risky and the meds are expensive. To give you a rougth idea on cost of medicals, ares cost just under a thousand pounds. This was for 2 adults and 2 children. This was meds, bood tests and xrays. Then another about £90 for courier to send them to sydney.

I know the feeling Jacky and we only applied in November so can imagine how you are feeling.

Im debating if i should call aspc tonight and see what they have to say but im always thinking they might shove me to the back of the queue if i keep bugging them lol.

But as the saying goes good things come to those who wait.

You could still get it in less than a year.

They should start on modl in june. You applied in September so you could get it in June.
