cartertucker
Hi there, Im hoping to get some interesting answers to this one! Where would you say is better to live....The Sunshine Coast or The Gold Coast? If it depends on your family situation then, my husband is a roofer & we are coming with our boys aged 16 & 5 years now, so by the time we arrive they could be approx 17/18 & 6/7 years old. Looking forward to hearing from you, Kelly.

Guest YellowGecko
I'd say the Gold Coast - for the kids. Nothing to do on the SC.
Guest giz
Hi kelly There is plenty to do on sunshine and gold coast I prefere the sunshine coast and my kids love it howvere only you can decide. gav
wattswalkaboutgang
Hi Kelly, We decided on the Gold Coast mainly due to the fact that our kids would be 16/17 by the time we arrived and thought that there would be more for them to do there, yes it is quite commercialised but although thats not everyones cup of tea, the kids love all that stuff dont they? Anyway have also been to the Sunshine Coast and found it lovely there too, just different from the Gold Coast it does really depend on what you are looking for. Good luck with wherever you choose. Guest Ian&Lou
For me the Sunshine coast is best. I checked out both areas and for us and our 8 year old thought the sunshine coast was better. It's more relaxed, but if I had teenage kids my perspective may have been different. Like others have said, only you can decide. Lou
calNgary
Both places are beautiful in their own different ways,i agree with the others in that only you can decide,we had our hearts set on the sunny coast before we left the Uk but ended up nearer the Gold Coast.Id advise you to take a good look around both areas and then decide ,we find lots of familys who stay with us do this ,some have gone sunny coast ,some decide they like the Gold Coast better, maybe have a look where the jobs saeem to be and work from there ,a goos job site is www.seek.com ,hope this helps a bit Cal x
Guest barab
Wherever you decide, don't choose Brisbane. It's old, run down and very boring. Sunny coast is not too bad, good beaches but nightlife is rubbish, whereas the gold coast is quite nice also but surfers paradise is live chavsville on a weekend. Guest The Undies
Hi Kelly, I know you read my post the other day about my experience, I would say your youngest will be happy in either location, it's your eldest who will feel most out of sorts. I'd advise you to think about his lifstyle, about what his interests and hobbies are, what he wants to do for a living, I found the pace of living is completly different in both areas, so much so you cant really compare, so depending on what kind of kid he is, I would consider that carefully because by the time you get there he wont even have the oppertunity to meet school buddies. I am leaning towards the G/C because I think there is more to offer youngsters, but it the S/C hands down for my hubby because it's simply beautiful and there are of course kids there!!! I hope I haven't come accross negative or judgemental, it's just my opinion. Rachael x
Guest johno1
We travelled to both in July and absolutely loved the Sunshine Coast although there does seem to be more work on the Gold Coast. There is definately more for teenagers on the Gold in the form of theme parks/water parks etc it also seemed a lot more touristy. My boys are 10 and 13...one loved the Gold Coast and the other loved the Sunshine Coast :arghh: however, they both seemed wonderful, it is just down to personal choice...me, I'm all for a quiet life so Coolum, here we come . Im so glad I asked the question & if anyone else reads this, please feel free to add more comments. joetrac
I dont agree with what the guy said to you ...but I dont think its the worst I have heard on this form either. No need to to try to not be nice to me either...if all your doing is trying to support your buisness partner I can understand....but the only reason she doesn't like me is because she was **** to someone who hated it here after 2 weeks and I said it wasn't fair... but if you want to be like that go ahead I can take it Im thick skinned. Be happy in your life ... I am :jiggy:

Alison x Hi Alison, great post, thanks for your views, where abouts on the Gold Coast are you heading? We do obviously want our older son to have things to do (and us as a whole family) also work comes into it for him & my husband, but we also dont want to have a house too close to high rises etc... Were still looking for that nice sized house with a pool! (so im assuming that would need to be away from the coast a little to suit our budget!) Kelly. You don't need to be living amongst high rises to live on the Gold Coast. The GC is huge and there are many, many suburbs to choose from. It's real spensive to live near the beach. Just a plot of waterfront land here sells for millions of dollars!
