For instance, if you leave your UK home vacant for 6 months of the year, will your insurance still be valid? Do you have someone who could keep an eye on the property while you're away, or are you thinking of renting it out as a holiday let? Where will you live for the 6 months you are in Australia -- if you're thinking of buying a property, consider what you'll do with it while you're not there (the same insurance question applies). We arranged house/ car swops for each visit in the Perth area , the swops were between 2 and 6 months all with different people . Although we only wanted Perth we must have received 600 requests to swop over the years , our property was a three bed in Cambridgeshire . palaceboy1 Posted October 10, 2023 Share Posted October 10, 2023 We used “homesforexchange” which I think has been taken over by love homes swop . We really only used the site for introductions . The hardest one to arrange was the first as we were in the dark and were probably over thinking . Once we were in Australia we visited future couples to swop with to check compatibility as some swops took 2/3 years to happen . We stayed in some lovely properties and did not have any big issues .
