    173 to 143 visa

Hi, the 173 visa allows 2 years in Australia. You have to apply for a 143 within that 2 years if you want permanent residency. My question, if I apply for the 143 do I have to leave Australia after the 2 years on the 173 are up. Or does applying for 143 allow me to stay in Australia till the 143 is processed? The 143 can take up to 12 years to process so that would mean a potential 10 year gap.

    Visa sponsorship

Tks for the response Paul. Is that because my daughter is on a temp visa? I read this on visa guide.world which would suggest her partner can sponsor their partners parents? You must be the legal child of your parents (biological, adoptive, or step-child). You may also sponsor your spouse or partner’s parents

    Visa sponsorship

I thought the 870 processing time was less than a year?
  6. To apply for a 143 or 870 visa you need sponsorship as follows: "To be eligible for the visa, a parent must be the biological parent, legal parent (including adoptive parent), step-parent or parent in-law of the sponsor, who must be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen." My daughter lives in Oz with an Australian citizen partner and they have a baby together. Would he be eligible to sponsor us for the above visas or do they need to be married for us to class as a Parent in Law?
  7. Thanks Marisa, very helpful.
  8. HI, does anyone know if a permanent resident can purchase houses other than new builds in Oz? E.g could a PR buy an old established residential property, not just a new build? Would it need to be their house of main residence?
  9. Tks for this info. Can you recommend an agency for house swaps?
  10. My daughter and granddaughter are in Australia, we live in UK. We would like to look into spending 6 months in OZ per year and 6 months in UK. Wondering if subclass 600 is the best option? However can we apply and get a subclass 600 each year or is it a one off? --Tks
