Hi all, I’m new to Poms In Oz and wondering if anyone can answer my question on whether UK Diploma qualified nurses (not degree qualified) can get registered with APHRA as an Enrolled Nurse or Endorsed Enrolled Nurse?  I’m finding it really difficult to find out this information.  Please help.

You probably won't find answers to that anywhere, because a UK Diploma qualified nurse can't get a visa to work in Australia, so there wouldn't be many people looking for that information.

So the only way the question is relevant is, if you're coming to Australia on a WHV or with a partner who does qualify for a visa.    Have you tried contacting APHRA and asking the question direct?

My instinctive answer would be no. Not based on anything other than like the NMC they have recognised courses for each sort of registration type.

As marisa has said maybe ring and ask them. You might find that they will ask you to pay for a proper assessment which means you’ll have to apply, pay the fee and accept losing the money if it’s a no.

Good luck and let us know if you get an answer as others may find this useful. 😊

Hi.

My friend whom i trained with in the uk, RN diploma course, has lived in Perth for years.

Since emigrating shes worked as a registered nurse, not an EN. Hope this helps. I would contact the Aussie nursing council.

I topped up my diploma, at Uni to get a degree. Took 2 yrs, but can do it quicker, if prepared to have that extra stress!
