This is probably a silly question, but when you finally manage through the whole process and are lucky to be granted your visa - is it literally granted from that day? ali Posted October 25, 2018 Share Posted October 25, 2018 Depending on the visa - they're usually granted and the date is often either the medicals or police check date (whichever was first). Eg - we did both in the May, our visa was granted in the June but the visa validity was from the May with first entry to Aus by the May the following year. Not quite The visa is valid from the date of grant. The first entry date will be the date of your medical/police check as they are only valid for one year. So did medical in May 2018, visa granted on October 2018. First entry date will be May 2019 but the visa will be valid from October 2018 and the travel portion will expire in October 2023.
