ceaustin1989
Hello, I am new to the forum and not sure if this has been discussed before - if it has i apologise. I am currently gathering paperwork to submit an expression of interest for 189 visa, however I have been doing some research and am not sure the 60 points I have are enough to be offered a Visa. How do they decide who to invite to submit a Visa application? It is purely on points? or do they take into account occupation too? Thanks
Raul Senise
There are a number of factors as all occupations have a ceiling for numbers, while others are affected by pro rata arrangements requiring higher scores. Since the new year, even the minimum score to receive an invite has been quite high at between 70 to 75 points. A 190 should be considered if it is an option.
ceaustin1989
Thanks for the reply, I am an Early Childhood Teacher and have had my skills assessed for this - from what I can tell there has not been many visas approved from this occupation - do I still need to get some more points to apply? srg73
I applied under the first month of the existing system a few years ago, I needed 85 points to get noticed and was accepted in the second month.
VERYSTORMY
At the moment no occupations are being invited for 189 with 60 points and that will remain until July 1.
