Shivathakur4
Hi @jess6, when did you lodge again? Just read your links and am flabbergasted that they would consider removing those from CSOL! It's the only list we're even on! Do they even realise how hard it is to go through 186 or to be sponsored by an employer in occupations not necessarily unpopular with locals? In our experience, they wouldn't do it unless they really need someone's specific skill set! I would have thought that logically, if they notice that certain occupations are being used predominantly for ENS, this should instead flag that the occupations NEED to be on the SOL (VS CSOL) since they are in fact in demand! So disappointed, Australia. If the application volume is so high, that means you should hire additional staff and at the very least, at least inform everyone what the reasonable and realistic timeframes are...and share what your basis for prioritising applications are! It's heartbreaking how the initially advised 4-6 months processing time has now blown up to 8+ months, with advice that hey, might even hit 9-10 months or so...no apologies, no certainties. It doesn't matter that application is complete and genuine. Maybe it all boils down to TRN vs DE and based on occupation priorities - which is really not supposed to be how this visa works. I rang immi over a week ago and spoke to someone more generous in sharing info - as of that date (over 8 months now!), we STILL had not been allocated a CO and in fact, IMMI said that they were still in March for TRN, and Feb for DE applications. No explanation on why the timelines are different. I was also advised that it might be best to accept that chances are, we'll have to wait until January or even February. Have you called them before as well or this is the first time? Shivathakur4
Once after 3 month is fine. You ever called them before your application was assigned to case officer?

Izzielizzie
This was the second time - but I didn't call them until after the 7th month of waiting post-lodgement. We've already been waiting over 8 months now. Have you called them before as well or this is the first time?

I was also advised that it might be best to accept that chances are, we'll have to wait until January or even February. @Izzielizzie - I lodged on June 20 this year, so I hope you get it before me I contacted my MA about the article I read and shared by the way. She answered that if any changes were to be made on the CSOL, and if the marketing specialist occupation were to be affected, then it would probably not affect the applications that have already been lodged. She also told me that the process takes around 9 months at the moment and this timeline will increase because of the Christmas break. So it align with what you heard from immi. I agree with you on many points you make: - It is pretty stressful - It is also disappointing because it does affect our lives a lot - And yes, the fact that they do not modify the processing time on the website is not great Friends of mines who applied a year ago or more got their PR in 4 months. If I had known that the timeline would increase so dramatically, I would not have changed employer honestly because my previous employer also wanted to sponsor me for my PR and I would already have it by now. Instead of this, I am likely to be on a bridging visa situation from Jan 18. Which is an horrible situation if anything were to happen in my family back home (i.e. on a bridging visa I need to apply to a visa to be able to leave Australia and it takes usually 2 weeks to be reviewed apparently). Regarding the marketing specialist occupation, well if it's not unpopular with locals, this may explain why the government would like to control it more. The visa system is not here to compete with locals. The government has to make sure that this huge amount of applications in not an easy way for people to get the PR or for employers to have dodgy methods (low wages, unreasonable work times, easy ways to get rid of people etc.) Now, we can argue whether or not it makes sense to have lists altogether. I mean if an employer wants to hire someone because they need their skills, they should be free to do so, right? But I guess we cannot change the system, it is the way it is. And at the end of the day, I do believe that the Australian government does try to do the right thing towards Australians but also skilled immigrants. In my case, just like you, I am employed by a very big company which would definitely not sponsor me if they did not need my specific skills. And I worked - and payed taxes - for over 4 years in Australia so it would just be fair to be granted to right to build a stable life and gain similar rights as Australians. At the end of the day, after so many years we all have participated to the growth of the country in many ways. Fingers crossed that our applications get approved soon! MaggieMay24
Hello anyone knows if immi is open today? DIBP offices would be open normal work hours from Monday to Friday. Whether any DIBP employees are putting in some overtime today is unknown, but always possible.
Shivathakur4
I called immi yesterday the lady picked up the call was very rude. She said we are still processing the feb files. And according to her i will not hear anything till easter. I dont know why she said that. Is that she was sure about it or she just looked at the processing dates. But she scared me alot. Now should I believe her and stop waiting or just don't worry about her

I also beleive that this is just official answer but the way she said that you might hear back after new year or may be close to easter is so scary. I know a lot of us waiting from last year and early this year but the hopes should always be there. But she destroyed all my hopes until easter
