Has the English test for a visa gone?

Visa applicants will still need to be either a citizen of UK, Ireland, NZ, Canada or USA to satisfy the English language requirement, or have completed an approved test, such as IELTS or PTE.

The English language testing requirement has been removed for Provisional Skills Assessments issued by TRA only, it has nothing to do with the visa application requirements.

The majority of applicants will need to do the test to get the points required, at least for a skilled independent visa. I don't know of anyone who didn't have to take it to get over 60 pts.

Is this new thing then? As we didn't and neither did anyone else I know. Our visa was applied for in 2009 though.
