Toowoomba is bit of a trek if a short trip although is a nice drive including Esk.

Gold Coast and Surfers Paradise worth a look on a week day

Gold Coast Mt Tamborine with a short rainforest walk.

Sunshine Coast is worth a look, Noosa is top destination.

Lone Pine is great to get close to the animals, get there 9am before the boats arrive as the Roos are still interested in feeding otherwise they fill up and simply sleep.

Southbank, try the Plough Inn for lunch and Street Beech.

CBD and city centre, worth a look and visit the Casino.

Friday and Saturday evening, Eat Street is on , cost $1 to get in and worth a look, loads of street food, entertainment etc. Easiest to use City Cat for this and get off at Hamilton, 5 min walk. Maybe try City Cat end to end, good way to see the city from the water.

Finally relax, slow down a little and take some time to enjoy your surroundings. We have been here 18+ months and still have loads to see as we have taken our time.

Enjoy

A very good selection there Simon, pretty much the same as I would suggest excepting Noosa that place has just never done it for either Linda or myself. For Sunshine Coast I would look at Maleny/Montville with a look over the Glasshouse mtns from the Mary Caincross reserve then from Montville drop down the winding road into Palmwoods and on to Mooloolaba. Also Australia zoo is in that area but that would need a day visit on its own, but could tie in a visitalso the Eumundi markets are there on a Wed or Sat morning.

End to end on the Brisbane River cat is a must, get on/off to see other things, just need to pick your day and/or night regarding the weather, could be chilly in Aug.

Have a good time The Smith Clan.

Actually in the city, take a look at Roma street parklands.................beautiful.

For a day out drive up the Samford Valley to Mount Nebo and along the top to to Mount Glorious. A short rainforest walk once there and a cake and coffee at the village cafe, drop down the other side and over to Lakes Wivenhoe and Somerset and the dams. Through through esk (route 17) for a fish and chip lunch stop. Turn right at D'aguilar highway. Further along turn rt at Neurum Rd over Mount Archer and turn rt when you hit the D'aguilar highway again and turn Rt. This takes you through Woodford and out onto the highway back to Brizzy at Caboolture.

You'll get a feel for the rainforest, the open grazing land, the camping, boating, fishing opportunities at both lakes, the rural lifestyle, and some nice little townships with their shops and crafts

As another poster said, try to take in Maleney and Montville on another trip.
