Major Tom
Hi all, We are coming to Melbourne early 2016, just wondered who on this site has a classic Volkswagen, what have you got, and what clubs are you in? We have a 1972 Type 2 Bay Westfalia Continental and a 1971 Beetle 1302S, but sadly we won't have enough room for the Beetle in the container! Cheers MT Partner visa (subclass 309/subclass 100 lodged 02/04/2015, CO (VF) allocated 06/05/2015. Police ACRO Check completed 24/09/2015, Medical Check completed 01/10/2015, currently completing a C100 removal from jurisdiction for my Stepson, looking to locate to Melbourne Berwick area with my family of five in early 2016. Parley
I suspect you are probably the only member in that club.
newjez
I used to have a 1970 beetle. My mechanic had a split screen combi. I'm sure there is a club if you googled it.
OT2
Hi, I know nothing about Volkswagens..however we have a friend who is part of the Bendigo club. ( around 2 hrs north of Melbourne) they seem to be a very active club with displays at Easter and regular social get togethers (see facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Volksclub-Bendigo-219164774761769/ ) Friend has multiple vehicles (? a dozen) but sorry I can't talk car talk with you. akiralx
Doubtless you will be attending the VW Owners Club gathering on Geelong Steampacket Gardens, there seems to be something on there every few weeks in summer - there are loads of classic car clubs in Victoria, just google as above... Paul1Perth
There's a VW club in Perth. The first car I bought when we got here was a 69 beetle. It had wide wheels fitted and had the 1500 engine, a good reliable machine. I sold it to an Irish guy down the road a few years later and he ended up taking it back to Ireland with him. Probably worth a bit now.
Major Tom
In the UK, a good 1500 69 is anything from £4K-£6K. Petkula73
I was at the Le Mans 24 Hour Race about ten years back and the campsites were full of various Ferraris, Astons, Lambourghinis etc. No-one really gives a toss at Le Mans as when you've seen one Ferrari you've seen them all. So, of all the exotic cars people turned up in, which one had a crowd of people permanently surrounding it drooling? A restored VW Campervan in cream and purple. I have to say it was absolutely wonderful.
