srh82
@jac2011any reason why you are booking flights before you have a visa granted? There isn't a tremendous amount gained in my opinion by booking flights that far in advance. 2-3 months will be ample, in my opinion.
jac2011
@srh82 - 5 one way flights LON to BRIS is currently £2300 with Etihad. I have been stalking flight prices for years and I have never seen them that good. They have been generally £1000 more. It also helps us with booking short term accomodation, car hire and being able to give an employer an exact date. We have so much to organise that it makes sense for us to do it. kirstyc822
Hi there, We are a family of 3 (Myself, hubby and daughter). Woo hoo bring on 2015!!!!
srh82
@jac2011 Fair enough. I would make sure the flights are changeable in case you need to change your plans for some reason. what are you going to do for 21 hours in Abu Dhabi? I can think of more interesting transit points for occupying three children.
srh82
Sorry I don't mean to dampen your enthusiasm. I would just be reluctant myself to book that far in advance without certainty over when a visa will be issued.
2bpepperrogers
Hi! We're (that's myself, wife and cat) are migrating in September as well! jac2011
I understand that some people dont like that level of risk, I am happy and have considered the risk and have decided it is acceptable. As a nurse, with a degree and job offers I believe that whilst not 100% the risk is minimal. The only risk is whether the visa is granted on time in case of delays but we have two options, paying the fee to change the dates or arriving on a tourist visa initially. I would rather grab a bargain flight price with a well known carrier. The plan in abu dhabi for 21 hours is to stay in a nice hotel, get a good sleep and spend a few hours wandering round. There was another option offering a 2 1/2 hour stopover but we have chosen to go for the 21 hour.

We hope to book ours over the next 4 weeks. I don't mind a short stopover but my wife thinks it's best to break it up for the kids to get some rest. (I felt they might as well sleep on a plane I they are tired, as it might pass the time more)
Seizethedance
Do people with kids think it's better to have a stop over for a night or just get the flight over with in one go? Ours will be 4 and 22 months and we were planning on straight there but I notice a couple of people here planning on stop overs.

(I felt they might as well sleep on a plane I they are tired, as it might pass the time more) Matthew Etihad prices are pretty good at the moment and you have the option to book the 21 hour stopover for just an extra £2 or so per person. It was through lastminute.com. I dont know how long these prices will stay like this though??? It leaves Heathrow at 9.15 am and is around 7 hours to Abu Dhabi, so by the time we get to our hotel the children will sleep, once they have had a good nights sleep we will see a few sights, return to the aiport and hopefully by then the children will be bored of the plane's and will sleep on the journey to Austrlalia :-). douglashv
We will arrive at Melbourne on 12 March 2015 with a 189 PR visa. Extremely excited! I already presented my resignation at work and will commit my entire time to plan our move. Can't wait to be there and continue this journey that started on 2010 when we took our decision of migrating from Venezuela!
