Hi.

I will be sponsored for a 457 visa soon and I have heard that it is not possible to apply for a permanent residency while I'm having 457 visa.

Does anyone know if that is the rule or if I can apply for permanent residency while having 457 visa?

Thanks. :err:

Yes you can apply for permanent residency while on a 457 visa..if thats what you mean..many ppl do

Yes that is exactly what I mean. I have heard that the law has changed so that's why I'm asking this question.

No, the law wasn't changed. As long as you qualify for pr you can apply for it.

There are two routes to employer sponsored pr after a 457. One you have to have worked on your 457 for two years but you don't need a skills assessment. The other you can apply for before two years but you need a skills assessment.

Skilled independent you can apply for at any time.
