dejani
Hi. I will be sponsored for a 457 visa soon and I have heard that it is not possible to apply for a permanent residency while I'm having 457 visa. Does anyone know if that is the rule or if I can apply for permanent residency while having 457 visa? Thanks. :err:

blossom
No, the law wasn't changed. As long as you qualify for pr you can apply for it. There are two routes to employer sponsored pr after a 457. One you have to have worked on your 457 for two years but you don't need a skills assessment. The other you can apply for before two years but you need a skills assessment. Skilled independent you can apply for at any time.
the gardener
Hi,I am very keen to find out if there is an age limit for someone on a 457 visa who wants to apply for PR. I am 56 !
MaggieMay24
You should look at the DIBP website, but I assume you'd be applying for a 186 visa. The age limit is 50 but there are some exceptions based on occupation or income earned while on the 457. http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/Pages/186.aspx
