readytogo
Hi folks. I have been looking into moving to Australia and am struggling to find out whether there are any visa options available to me. I am 34 years old and work in Business Development / Marketing (not yet senior level). I know that these do not appear on the skills lists, although there may be some potential for an employer sponsored visa. I also have family in Australia but they are second cousins / first cousins once removed, so I do not think they are close enough to sponsor me either. Is there anything else I could look in to that I haven’t been able to find? Any help is greatly appreciated. I would love to make the move and I am a little heartbroken to think I might not be able to.

I'll just bump this back up Have you spoken to a MARA registered agent?first consultations are sometimes free, the agent i used "Concept Australia" was free for the initial consultation i think, they're in Manchester and Kent,Chiselhurst i think If not there's a fair few who are well up on the visa system on here who might be able to help, good luck

It can be done on your own but for some the security and knowledge a MARA agent can provide is more suitable especially if you don't have the knowledge or the time to sift through everything. The first place to start is obviously skills lists...see if you are on any of them...so SOL/ CSOL....if not sometimes skills can fit under different occupation titles..this is often where an agent is knowledgeable and can give you an idea of whether your skills, experience and roles/responsibilities may fit well under a different title. Good luck, there are lots of people on here who have started from knowing nothing and have found their way through the various different pathways to visas. I'm pretty sure most initial consultations are free X

Any information I can find out would be great as I know I might be on to a bit of an uphill battle with this because of my occupation
jodipodi
If it were me I would get a couple of MARA opinions just to make sure you feel confident in what they suggest and also so that if you decide to enlist their help for you visa application you can choose who you feel most comfortable with, maybe who explains things best, who's fees are most favourable in respect to what levels of service they can offer you etc. Pabs has given you one....there is also @wrussell who is a well respected MARA and posts regularly on here, and @Alan Collett who seems well thought of and comes recommended. blossom
If you can't fit your job into something on the sol or csol you have no chance of sponsorship either I'm afraid.

That's on the CSOL isn't it? Am I right in saying that I definitely have to get sponsorship if my occupation is listed on that list or would I be able to try a different route? If this is the case do folks have suggestions on the best ways to secure work that is sponsored? It's so difficult to find these things out. jodipodi / pablo, thanks for the suggestions with agents. I never heard back from the one I contacted the other day so will try the ones you have recommended.

They can only provide a certain level of information before they would understandably ask for a fee. Wrussell is very knowledgeable as far as I'm concerned. Is the title Wrussell suggested on any State Sponsorship lists? X

RobJones
Marketing Specialist would certainly be one of the obvious options - it is on the CSOL so you are looking at an eventual 190 visa. However, back to the case in point. If you dont pass skills assessment then there is no progressing down the skilled migration route 190. I would be concerned that you say your role is BusDev / Marketing and at a junior level. If you have a relevant degree that will help, the CIM will help a little also. Skills Assessment is a big cost if you don't have the right experience for sure and they WILL reject no question if you dont make the grade. Joanne Rawlinson
Occupations on the CSOL need a sponsor. It doesn't have to be an employer sponsor, it could be a state sponsor I am currently a Marketing Specialist (as classed by VETASSESS) and it WAS on the state sponsored list for Canberra. I started the process and employed an agent (OE Visas - Richard Greagan) and applied for my VETASSESS which includes providing 8 years of payslips of P40's, all certificates from qualifications, letters from employers to vouch for my experience etc. From start to finish the whole VETASSESS took 8 months but I did get a positive assesment but by then the state sponsored list for Marketing Specialist had closed. I am now waiting to see if it comes back on the list 1st July. It isnt on any other list and if it does go back on the places will be very limited. I would highly recommend an agent if it does go back on and you are going to pursue. Our route isnt straightforward and an agent who knows the ins and outs of the system has been a massive benefit to me. Good luck

Good luck Hi, Joanne Rawlinson Even though I went through a migration agent I've faced to similar situation like yours I've been in the process of applying for " "Multimedia Specialist - ANZSCO 261211" (190 visa category) It was available at ACT that time .But now it's closed in the ACT occupation list But its still on the main CSOL list. I guess I have to wait till they open my occupation again to get the state sponsorship .tough situation. I wish you all the best.
