Hi

My partner and I are flying nto Brisbane in April for 2 weeks. We need to come to validate our visa but only a fleeting visit as not got everything sorted to leave UK yet. Any tips and advice on where to go? We are slightly limited on money so can't do everything. It will also be our honeymoon so we don't want to be rushing about too much! Ideally we'd like to do some snorkelling on the reef, sunbathing and enjoying our honeymoon on a lovely beach, spend a couple of days in Brisbane too.

Idea 1 was to fly up to Rockhampton and go out to Gt Keppel Island from Yeppoon for a couple of days, then travel by land back south along the sunshine coast,

Idea 2 was to fly all the way up to Townsville and spend a week there then fly directly back to Brisbane and then drive up to Noosa etc and around there.

Any suggestions on what to do/weather/where to go etc would be greatly appreciated!!

We had a day out on the River Cats in Brisbane, we took in the fantastic sights of everything up and down the river, it's only cheap but well worth it. Then we went to the Museum which was free and again, well worth seeing and we also went swimming in the open air warm pools at Southbank and laid on the man made beach in the glorious sunshine, it was fantastic. In the evening there was a live band on in the square just opposite the little Jewish church and we rounded it all off with a sumptuous steak meal, sitting outside as we ate in, in the middle of the city. I bloody love Australia.

I would spend 2 days seeing brisbane, 2 days seeing the gold coast, 2 days seeing the sunshine coast, maybe try squeezing noosa in there too or add an extra day for it. Then fly up to cairns or somewhere further north so you can explore the GBR, and whichever town you choose do the other touristy things, cairns has a lot to do. You'd have to get a return flight from brisbane and car hire in brisbane to drive around the gold coast and sunshine coast.

Take a flight from Brissy to Gladstone....from there go to Heron Island! Not to be missed, the most amazing place iv ever been and it's not very well known so its a quite island paradise  we have been twice and will defo be going again. You can access Rocky from Gladstone as its only 1hour n half hours drive up the road. Great Kepple is on our next island getaway list! Don't forget to give Noosa/Noosaville a visit on the sunny coast.

We went at the end of July so memories are still fresh . We spent 3 days in Brisbane "on business", finalized nursing licenses and than explored the city. Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is well worth a visit, we took a boat there and went back by bus, you`ll have more time to spend there. River trips as Hoff said , New Farm station is right at a beautiful park. We flew to Cairns , rented a car and went for 3 days to the Daintree National Park. Lots of things to do there, Cape Tribulation was wonderful. We stayed in Crocodylus Village, that place is right in the rainforest and you sleep in a tent ( with bathroom, floor and beds ) so able to hear all the sounds of the forest, fantastic in the night when it rains! From Daintree we went to Cairns for 3 days and went to see the Great Barrier Reef, not budget-friendly but very worth it. Lagoon in Cairns is great for swimming too - and it was the middle of winter . Back to Brisbane , river cruising, South Bank, farmer`s market, Mount Coot-tha. It was a wonderful vacation and I think we saw what we wanted having a limited time like you do. Have a great trip :wubclub:
