@Snifter , hey Snifter I forgot to ask, can it be written on computer and printed and signed or does it have to be HAND written on white paper ?

Cheers mate.

We are sending the visa tomorrow !

You can type. I typed mine, 3.5 pages of A4, hubby hand wrote his, 5 pages of A4.

Have you both written a statement though? You both need to write about your relationship, how you met, who does what, how you support each other etc. You can't scrimp on that. You can't write the same thing, it has to be your own words but make sure your stories match up with regards to time frames and so on.

Yes yes absolutely our own , hers is a bit smaller but she is a girl so she spends a bit more time explaining things. We spent one week writting them so they are perfect !

We are speaking about a wedding we have both been invited to, thats a reason why we have been separated because it was in australia so I couldn't make it but she did. We scanned the invitation and printed it, should we do a certified copy aswell ?

Thank you for all your advices Snifter, I'll let you know when I lodge my visa tomorrow, I'm excited !

No, don't certify the invite. All the supporting evidence like that, bills, rental agreements etc don't need to be certified. Only copied. Certified stuff is things like birth certificates, passports etc.

Good luck with it all :) There is a thread for off shore applications here

Visa sent on the 15/02/2013, money taken from the immigration on the 19/02/2013 !

That's it for the moment.

Little concern : They took 1900 pounds on my account instead of 1800 pounds. I am not really sure why as I paid in pound so there shouldn't be any currency stuff going on ..

The price fo the offshore spouse applying in the UK is GBP 1,800. I just checked the fee and used the DIAC currency convertor, so 1800 is right. I would definitely contact them about that...it might just be human error typing in the number!

I will definitly contact them !

Also, I still haven't been assigned to an officer or receveid an email , how long does it take generally ?

Cheers

A few days, 10 days. Don't panic. Your application is in.

I have just recently applied for the same visa. We included: -

Two years worth of payslips for me and my sponsor (Australian citizen)

Two rental agreements

Two years worth of joint car insurance docs

40sp form

47sp form

Some pictures with friends both in the UK and Australia

Two 888 forms from Australian citizens

Witness statement from both sets of parents

Witness statement from my sponsor and I

Three years worth of joint bank statements

Gas bills

Photo pages of both passports

Sponsors Australian citizen certificate (lived there since she was 4)

My birth certificate

My police check (I did this before submitting the application)

I have just recently completed my medical. For some reason they didn’t advise me to get it done after a certain date. I got my CO assigned a week after submitting my application to London.

Hope this helps.

Hi !

Visa sent on the 15/02/2013, money taken from the immigration on the 19/02/2013 !

I still haven't been assigned to a comission officer .. Should I receive an email ?

I am stressed :(

Thanks guys

You should hear from someone soon, but don't fret overly just yet. It was only 6 days ago the fee was taken and 2 days of that were over a weekend. It could be the person you are assigned only works part time and isn't in till later in the week or they have just not gotten to you quite yet.

You know your application is in, the fee has been taken and all being well you'll hear from someone in due course.

Have a browse through this thread (the more recent pages) and ask there and I am sure you'll find others who had a bit of a wait before their CO made first contact.

I litteraly received the email from them when wrote the comment !

Application is not done unfortunately There is something I completely mistaken .. I did live 2 years or so in Saudi Arabia when I was little with my parents because of the French Army. I need to provide a clearance for it ...

This is apparently how I can get it :

Obtaining the letter from DIAC

If you have lodged a migration application, the DIAC office will give you a letter requesting health and

character checks. You will need to present a copy of this letter to the Australian Embassy in Riyadh

along with a copy of current passport and valid Iqama.

The Australian Embassy will then issue a letter addressed to the Saudi Authorities to assist you in

obtaining a police clearance.

You take this letter with the other documents required and lodge your application for the police

certificate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who will authenticate the letter. The letter will then need to

be taken to Police Headquarters and fingerprints samples taken.

Providing you have a copy of the letter from DIAC letter requesting health and character checks, you

do not need to pay a fee for the letter from the Australian Embassy.

I am really confused about the process ...

You say when you were little - was it in the last 10 years??

Hmm, I did a bit of reading on it and I would hope you could contact the Saudi embassy in London once you've had the request but am not sure.

Hopefully someone will be able to shed more light.

I am trying to track down the Aus info but keep turning up Canadian and NZ.

They both basically say the same about how to go about getting the PCC if outside SA. This is from the NZ website. I am trying to track down the Aus breakdown for you but would imagine it would be something like this (well, I hope for you it would be :) )

Outside Saudi Arabia: apply to their own country’s embassy/consulate in Saudi Arabia. A representative from applicant’s embassy/consulate will forward the application to the appropriate department in Saudi Arabia to complete the process. The applicant’s embassy will forward the police clearance certificate to the applicant once the department in Saudi Arabia has issued it.

I need to book a health check, do you guys have any advices about this ?

How long will it take for me to get an appointment ? I believe the queue is quite long.

Hi guys,

I have done my health check and everything and haven't heard back from the immigration yet.

It has been 6 months now it has been logged.

I have let known my officer that I won't be in UK when it will probably be granted but at my parent's place to see them before leaving.

When the visa get granted do I need to go up london to get a stamp or something on it ? Is it posible to just send it by letter for example ?

Thank you very much for your answers.

You don't need a stamp, the visa grant is electronically linked to your passport number. Some people still want a stamp, so have to send their passport to London, pay a fee to do so, and run the risk of it being lost in the post. I didn't bother, and have never once needed to show anyone anything in my passport. Medicare want a copy of the grant email for your Temp Medicare Card, then a copy of the letter from DIAC when I got my SC 100 PR...a visa stamp wasn't enough for these...it has to be copies of the email and letter...so I honestly can't say I've needed a stamp. Save yourself the hassle and cost of getting a stamp and just use the electronic system.
