russ and claire
Just wondering if it is worth Russ doing a reccie before we move out to Perth? We can only afford for him to go and then he can look at the cost of houses, maybe go and and chat with people that work within the mental health sector etc... and see what it is like. lebourvellec
Do you have family or friends that he can stay with when he goes out?? I suppose it is just personal preference, maybe he would feel more comfortable about moving if he had been out before, as I know he was a bit unsure about it all. The only other thing to consider is when you do go, you can get double baggage allowance when you travel on a un-validated PR visa with some airlines. Rupert
Well you can look at cost of houses on line easily enough, but as above, it's personal preferences really. If you think it is worth it then do it.
fifi69
I would say no, not worth it. Unless he was still unsure about the move and wanted to get a feel for Perth. Coming as a visitor he wont get the real deal, everything will seem v expensive using the £.
Tickled Pink
I would wait until you at least have the visa first. Getting to that point can take a while, and if you are doing a recce, better to have things at the forefront of your mind rather than maybe having to recall a year back. flag of convenience
If possible definately worth a look. Perth is not for everybody and prices are high. To get a job lined up or at least a few connections may be worth its weight in gold.
Candygirl
Personally, if you have not been before and are really not sure, then I would say yes. As has been said, Perth is not for everyone and all the states are very different.
WeegieDave
In my opinion No. You can check house prices online and find out about what its like to work in the mental health sector by chatting to people on here. He would probably arrive in Perth on his own and not know where to go and how to get around etc. I'd be saving every penny you have for the move over as you will need a few dollars in the bank for when you get here!
