nik_kershaw
Hi everyone, I miss some food so much that I make it myself like cherry bakewells, however for my next venture I want to make some Steak Puddings (not a fan of the kidney) and I need to get some suet. It appears to be quite hard to find as it's mainly us POM's that use it help please Nik
NowPerth
I was hunting for vegetarian suet a couple of months ago and found regular suet in the main supermarkets. They had it in Woolworths, Coles and IGA. Either with the baking things or near the gravy powder, stock etc. It doesn't have the same packaging as in the UK, it's not ATORA. It's in a blue box. After a month of hunting I got the vegetarian suet from a British shop, then two weeks later my local Woolworths started to stock it.
Thom
I've used Copha to good effect in making pasty pastry. http://recipes.wikia.com/wiki/Copha
Slean Wolfhead
They have suet at the big supermarklets, lots of it. I found it when looking for trifle sponges....which I couldn't find anywhere !
Xtonite
Trifle sponges are easy to come but, Savority (or something like that ) they are called. Geoff (loves a good trifle.... And steak pudding... And pretty everything in between) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Quoll
DH used to get a lot and render it down from the butcher at Griffith. I dont know if he had to order it but if you gave them a call they would tell you. Dont know where you can get it already rendered though - clarifying it yourself is quite an easy process if you dont mind the extra bit of work.
