The word 'but' at the end of a sentence
nik_kershaw replied to nik_kershaw's topic in Chewing the fat
I was talking to a friend on Facebook and she did it, however in my mind I changed the word to though and it worked fine in that sentence, so I guess I'll keep trying the 'though' test to it and see if is used in the same way Sent from my iPhone Living the dream -
They are universal plugs on the chairs, so it takes off the top of my head, UK, AUS, US and no doubt more designs Sent from my iPhone Living the dream

How did you meet your partner? (Unusually soppy - for me - post!)

Set up on a bit of a blind date, my now wife was invited to her friends birthday drinks at a pub in London, I too was invited and even though I said was skintight my friend was very persistent, we had a great evening and I was very very drunk. I was so drunk I couldn't remember her name so I put her number in my phone as Aussie Sheila. Before I phoned her up I asked my friend what her name was, and I was informed it was Deirdre, which didn't ring a bell at all from the previous night. So I nervously called her up and the rest is history. Now have 2 kids, another on the way and been married about 4 years Sent from my iPhone Living the dream -
Well I've lived here for about 4 years and there are a few things I don't quite get like the word but at the end of a sentence. Not everyone does it, in fact not many people at all near Canberra but I believe it is more common as you go towards Sydney. I asked my wife about it (she's an Aussie by birth) and she said she doesn't notice it, however I have. Do you notice it also, what does it mean? Sent from my iPhone Living the dream

We'll be back to QBN, as the mother and father in law live here and we'll still have a house here which we rent out. Sent from my iPhone Living the dream

Yes NSWPF, and funny you mention Bourke as that is where I am looking to be posted for a number of reasons including the fact I have family there. Sent from my iPhone Living the dream

Currently undergoing police training which you can do as a PR. I may still however look at the public service if the police thing does not work out for me

I took part in the event in Queanbeyan. I was the only person out of 65 who was from the UK, luckily the ceremony finished before the downpour! Thank you far all the well wishes, very busy day and loved it Sent from my iPhone Living the dream
