catinahat1975
Hi all, I know this might sound like a funny question but i'll ask it anyway. How common are walkin wardrobes in Oz rentals? We have 2 big wardrobes and are not sure if to take them with us and then just have them taking up space. Thanks George
DBC
We shipped our wardrobes over only to find that every house we looked at had built-ins! We ended up giving them away after cluttering the place up for ages. I would sell them in the UK if you can.
calNgary
Ive been in quite a lot of Australian houses and im yet to find one that doesnt have built ins. Unless you would be happy to use the wrdrobes in a garage or something for storage i really wouldnt bother paying to ship them. Cal x
Goochie
As above, every house we viewed in the last couple of weeks (North Perth) had a built-in / walk-in wardrobe in every bedroom. You'd struggle to buy a free-standing wardrobe here because they're so unpopular.
Bob1
Our house was built in 1931 so no WIR - depends what kind of house you go for but as about 99% of POMS go for new build areas then you'll probs be OK.
koalaclare
we brought our wardrobes with us as they were part of a very expensive set. They are still flat packed in the garage and when we finally get to buying our own home they will most probably end up either in the garage for storage (lots of motorbike kit in our house) or dumped. In hindsight we really wish we had sold them before we came out
Tickled Pink
Where abouts are you moving to? It depends if you are going to be living in a Queenslander house - where many do not have wardrobes, or a more modern build. Both houses we have lived in have had loads of storage - biggest wardrobes I've ever had! But we have friends who live in a Queenslander who have nothing, so had to buy it all in. rammygirl
In our rental in SA only the master had a walk in robe, other bedrooms had none. If you can flat pack them it could be worth bringing them.
