Parent visa application timelines (143 & 173)
Arti replied to theballies's topic in Family / Partner Visas
I SO agree with you. It's disheartening to come across this information only on forums such as these whilst the agents (most of them) just parrot out what's written on the immigration web page. When I applied the queue was already indicating close to 8 years wait time. Either they don't do their homework or don't want to deter applicants from applying with such long wait times.- 3,180 replies

I can so completely relate to your situation, being an only child. It is not easy - and either ways you'll end up being responsible for making your parents comfortable - be it in their own country or their new adoptive country. It's just some of the things that have to be done out of love / sense of responsibility etc. And then again, every family is different and with the myriad visa options and choices - yep the decision making is daunting. I'd suggest you speak with a good immigrant agent to weigh out your visa options first and get a feel for the expenses / timelines etc with all the options. In any case it's a long waiting game and getting an application in is just the first tiny step towards a much longer process.

If you are doing the process via VFS you need to follow the protocol set by VFS - i.e. send it to the VFS address based on your place of residence in AU. You'll need to resend all docs.

Parent visa application timelines (143 & 173)
Arti replied to theballies's topic in Family / Partner Visas
Hi - based on the number of applications in the queue and the annual capping of visa grants by the immigration department, the estimate out there is 8-9 years. However this could swing either ways i.e. if the capping limit increases / decreases then the wait times could reduce or further increase - this bit none of us know and will depend on how the AU economy shapes up over the years and the govt directives based on it. If I were you, I'd get the application in as the application fee itself isn't massive and you get yourself a spot in the queue which is the first step. You can always make a decision either way once your application is up for processing, but having the foot in the door is important as you don't want to end up with a 'what-if' question all through your life. Just my 2 cents!- 3,180 replies

Ours was more complicated as it had to be done by the FRRO (since we are AU citizens) - it took us 5 weeks all up!

Yep that's my worry - but need to be mindful of the laws around time frames as 6 months is what I have at the very most to get my application in...

Definitely cannot allow the sponsorship to lapse! I'll apply within the next 4 months -that way the sponsorship remains valid and we are also closer to things going back to normal I guess - whenever that happens...

Hi guys Our overseas PCC document took forever - submitted it finally on Friday night and got the sponsorship approval Monday morning! Now I'm faced with a dilemma with timing my application correctly. Should I apply for the 870 visa right away or wait another few months before applying? With the border restrictions in place, even once granted, my parents will not be able to travel at least till July 2021 from what I can see. Or should I apply right away and the department will only issue the visa once border restrictions lifted?

I think there is an aged contributory visa option if your parents are over a certain age in which case they can ask for a bridging visa. With the very long waiting times I'd recommend you to research all options! You can always travel back on a bridging visa but just have a more restricted period of stay outside AU - as i said you'll need to do more research.

You'll need overseas PCC for all countries where you have resided for 12 months or more cumulatively over the last 12 months (not necessarily consecutively)
-
Hi Jeet No not yet, we are waiting for the overseas PCC as it's taking time with the COVID situation
-
Please hire an agent - and more importantly hire a GOOD agent after enough research. We are talking about life plans / family goals here and you don't want to leave no stone unturned in the larger scheme of things.

I don't think so - the PCC needs to be issued by the country itself. If you are an Australian citizen in need of Indian police clearance - you need to lodge it via FRRO - it's an online procedure.
-
It doesn't look like they are even processing parent applications any more, let alone finalizing.

I think bridging visas are being issued with the current covid situation. I don't think 143s can get a bridging visa that'll last all way through till decision time.

Wow Congratulations!! I think they'll clear everyone who paid the 2nd vac just before the covid situation came up and whilst they'll continue processing applications, they'll put a pause on the finalizing steps for rest of the year.- 3,180 replies

You were so right - got requested for additional info a day after I submitted my application!

Do all application must be same place while loging visa 143?
Arti replied to Kevintran's topic in Family / Partner Visas
Just out of curiosity - what happens to these applications? Do the parents get through and the sibling doesn't? -
Dear All I am about to hit submit on my sponsorship application for 870. I am not submitting the police clearances right away considering everything's up in the air and they might not even process any 870s this year and police clearances last only a year Is this OK? Can I submit the police clearance once asked for by the case officer?

waiting for outcome of 143 visa while holding 870
Arti replied to Fcis999's topic in Family / Partner Visas
Ah right. Thank you for the correction. -
I'm secretly praying that queue length is just a mis-calculation with the immigration department. Like how they keep goofing up the queue calculator.

You can go to the nearest international airport outside of AU and be back the next day. It's all about going through immigration in AU really to get your visa validated. -
Contributory Parent Visa 143 application process
Arti replied to Anash6's topic in Family / Partner Visas
I SO wish I had found this forum at the time I was contemplating applying. Back then it was 2 years and we postponed applying coz we wanted to get all ducks in a row. Lesson learnt. With immigration nothing's in your control except getting your application in ASAP!
