Hi Rammy girl, Asking in general if there is property tax in Oz. Because when I look in realestate.com.au it only shows Strata levi, Stamp duty etc for each property. Not sure where the property tax is mentioned so. I guess the states would be NSW, VIC, TAS, SA and ACT to look in

Thank you for the reply Samson. I did the Bpay in the morning of yesterday - however the ATO website still shows the due amount. I guess it would take a couple of days to reflect ? Also the letter from Probe collections says if I have already paid then I could ignore the letter. Should I wait for it to reflect on ATO website and call Probe ?

Hi guys, I had filed the tax returns (my 2nd here and first done by miself without tax consultant). It had a Medicare levi to be paid. I had not known how to pay it and totally forgot to check and do it. Today I checked my post box and found a letter sent about 10 days ago that Probe had been requested by ATO to collect this amount. (Even before I saw this letter this evening, I had visited a Tax consultant today as part of that obtained the info I needed to pay the levi and paid off by Bpay this afternoon.) Could you please let me know what are the implications of this ?

I read somewhere before that we can go to a JP and show an ID and get this form signed even if he does not know you for more than 1 year. Is that correct ? Thank you

Was it the last name that was initialized or the middle name ? Because it is quite usual to have a initialized middle name.

Hi Yeyeboel, Does the name on your passport match with the name on all other documents such as your birth certificate etc ? Because my concern is not that the name is initialized - it is that the birth certificate has initials but the passport it is expanded.

Since my full name is very long, my birth certificate has initials only for the surname part. Is this ok or should it be full name. 2. I did not have my original birth certificate. Hence a few years ago, got a birth certificate from the department issued. Is this ok that I did not have the birth certificate from the beginning and only obtained it recently ? All my earlier documents including the 10th grade Marks card has my name in initialized form and only after I applied for passport it was expanded and for that and in subsequent documents. Is that ok ? Do I need to follow any process for this ?

Hi All, If one has been USA for 2 months (Jan, Feb) and then moves to Oz, should they file the tax returns for those 2 months in OZ? Also, any idea if we need to file USA tax returns for those 2 months ? Thank you

The North shore is a good area to live. How many bedrooms are you looking at and would it be a house or a unit etc. would determine the options (as they typically do). With that budget (750 - 1300) I think you would get good accommodation in the lower North Shore area (suburbs from Waverton to Chatswood on the train line would be good for commute and quality). The bigger the house the farther you would go - but the good thing is that you have a single train line (without having to change trains) that would get you from Northern suburbs to both the North and South shore Business districts (as long as you choose a suburb with a station). You can check the T1 line for these suburbs. They are also adding a new train line (Metro) so there could be additional suburbs in this area that would get a train station. Lower North shore also has from what I have heard some of the best public schools.

Hi Guys, If you have a license from one state, and you move to a new state, in general, you have approx 3 months to get the license from the new state. However, if you plan NOT to drive in the new state and hence plan NOT to get license in the new state, do you need to give the license from your previous state to the department in your new state after 3 months ? Or do you have the option to simply keep the license from prev state in a bag and not use it and not get any new license from the new state that you have moved to ? Thank you
