  1. @KazBaker What about the PR application that's already been approved, do I not need to add it there as well? Or would adding it into the citizenship area flow through?
  2. Hey guys Possibly a "noob" question here but I'll rather be safe than sorry. I have previously mentioned that I got my son a new updated passport (even though his current one is still valid) as it's expiring at the end of the year and getting a passport from S.A is a mission (to say the least). Now, I want to update the passport details but wanted to confirm that this is done on the immi page, under the finalized PR application right? - I'm assuming then, that would mean in time the PR would be attached to both his old and new passport? Just wanting to make sure I update the right stuff here and being "finalized", wanted to make sure my thinking was correct?
  3. @cramtolum I'm sorry to hear this - especially after 3 years of hard work. I'm afraid, as the others have mentioned, you'll need to withdrawn your application and either a) find a sponsor to take over your existing 457 or b) find a new sponsor for what would likely need to be a 482 visa. In saying that, you would also only have 60 days for doing this as your current visa is no longer active (from when the company closed officially). Sounds like a real tough situation and I wish you all the best. I think a long chat with a good MA / lawyer is needed! Keep us posted and let us know how you go.
  4. @there This really is dependent on the applicant and the strength of the case. A few months ago, MA's were telling applicants to wait before getting medicals because a medical is only valid for 1 year and cases were taking longer than that. That meant lots of people were having to do more than one medical (typically on the request of the CO's due to expired medicals). Now really, I think (in most cases) you'd be OK do it sooner, especially if you're working with an accredited company / MA (these cases are taking ±3-4 months for approval). I have a friend who's in the process (with an accredited company) and was told do to the medical immediately on lodgement as they expect a CO to review the application within the month. - If they don't, the CO will request it and hence, cause additional delay (which is what everyone is trying to avoid). So really it comes down to the application and cost for the applicant. If you can afford a 2nd one (risk an expiry), then do it immediately, alternatively you could wait ±3 months before doing it (it's all guess work as to when the CO will open your case). When in doubt, follow the advise from your MA
  5. @Chris N Lora Isn't everything in this forum and any other page here, general opinion and personal / individual advise? I don't think anyone claims to be an agent (besides the ones that are). The rest of us are all just trying to help each other, with personal experiences and thoughts. Honestly, if someone doesn't double check advise provided on a forum, with a registered agent / place of authority, then that in itself is a concern
  6. It's likely they got the email but was just sent to spam or something (maybe)? - I'd assume they'd email each candidate (the post is in case the email fails maybe).
  7. Has anyone here renewed a passport before it had expired (in anticipation of it expiring)? If so, what options did you choose when updating you PR application on the immi site (i'm assuming this is where we update this information)? - The current passport is still valid for a year, however, we had to get a new one early due to the time it takes to get one (from South Africa) and due to an upcoming international trip, which states you're not allowed to travel on a passport that only has 6 months left. Or, do I just leave these (not updated) until it expires?
  8. @TunnyPR It really is just a 10 second Google search away: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-processing-times/global-visa-processing-times
  9. @Quinnie Please review the visa processing times; which are publicly visibly / accessible. - https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/citizenship/citizenship-processing-times
  10. @gwheng This was in regards to the signature on your Pomsinoz profile (see mine below). Has nothing to do with actual documents etc. - You're safe to ignore, or simply follow the steps to update your signature (which helps others in the forums, especially when you ask a question).
  11. Hey guys I've noticed and understand that there is some time between when you get "Approved" citizenship and when you actually get to attend the ceremony. My question is this: - Are you officially a citizen once it's approved (meaning you can apply for passport etc.) or do you need to wait for the ceremony to receive the paper? Thanks in advance.
  12. @Thanh Vo You're well within the waiting period. Patience is key here Best of luck.
  13. @robinoz2018 You should be able to apply on the day of your 12 month anniversary (18th Feb). The online application also validates you application (mine did), whereby if you do not meet the criteria (waiting times) it'll tell you and not allow you to proceed. - I tried getting my application submission ready beforehand and it would stop me from proceeding until i had waited exactly 12 months on PR (and 4 years in the country total).
  14. @Swoop The 28 day rule needs to be taken with a pinch of salt. - Some requests I've seen get reviewed in 1 day and others have taken months, unfortunately, it's a guide that cannot be trusted. To answer your question though: It's meant to be 28 days from the request of more information (they basically imply that they will request for information --> put the file away, then review it again in 28 days, to see if what was asked for has been provided). As extra info: When I was waiting, the average time (although listed as 28 days), was 30-40 days. Now though it's all over the place, I would estimate anywhere from 1-90 days
  15. @Indianinoz Although I don't know the actual (complete) address, my suggestion would be to white list the entire home affairs domain: - homeaffairs.gov.au Also, any changes / approves should appear in your immi account online.
  16. FYI - for our records. My wife and I (with 2 children on my application), applied for citizenship on the 1st of January, for Sydney council.
  17. Yeah, I noticed that last night and was thinking "what a weird option", who would want to do that with someone else... Now it all makes sense
  18. @KazBaker thanks for tat. I've not applied yet, as I was only eligible on the 28th. - I have however, arranged everything and should be getting the last of the docs signed tomorrow, which means I'll be applying this week, if all goes well! Exciting times!!
  19. @restaurant.manager In my opinion, if this was done in error (an actual mistake on the visa application), then you / your MA can just update the details and provide any needed documentation (justification etc.). Remember that the application can still be changed / updated whilst no CO is looking at it. Once they open it, they are likely to request any missing data / requirements. If however, the identification of regional areas has changes since you lodged, then I would suspect you could leave things as is, however, I would (personally) check with my MA if there would be any benefit to updating the application form. I'd be surprised if this had much impact on your application.
  20. @Maliks That's good news, congrats, now for the visa application... This sounds like it might be an interesting situation... The visa application requires LOTS of documents, some of which are proof of contract, salary slips, payments (pay slips) and tax details (to confirm super is being paid etc). With your salary being paid cash in hand, I hope that the paperwork is still all being done and processors are being followed, else you could be in for a difficult application. Please keep us posted on this and best of luck!
  21. Possibly a simply question but I needed some clarification please. My wife and I went from a 457 to 186 PR, all these applications were done by me (the main applicant), which automatically included my wife. With citizenship, am I correct in saying that my wife and I need to apply for this separately? I'd rather be sure than assume. Thanks in advance
  22. Hey guys - I'll be hitting the 1 year on PR mark on the 28th and hence, will be lodging, however, my sons passport has since expired and we've already received the new one. Do I need to update immi / Vevo or something with the new details? Forgive the ignorance
  23. @Pas As far as I'm aware the department are only closed for the public holidays. Please remember that this forum is only a small snippet of people who are waiting visa and processing times and does not represent the full number of people awaiting these visas.
  24. @Maliks This means that your companies nomination (they nominated to sponsor you), has been approved. This means that company qualifies to sponsor someone. - This is great news and means Immigration will now turn their attention to your visa and details of same for processing. If everything is in order (medicals, character checks etc.) then you should be receiving good news, hopefully soon. My suggestion moving forward is, if you don't understand something from your lawyer - ask them to explain. You paying them for a reason, I make sure to ask questions on anything I'm unsure on (I hate assuming).
  25. @Saugat No, the nomination process has no affect on the visa application (obviously, once it's approved they can process your visa). Please keep in mind that the Nomination application / approval is completely separate to that of the Visa application / approval. - You can also only see the details of your visa application - any nomination details would need to be view from your company / lawyers account (as it contains company sensitive information).
