  1. They also asked for my Medicare card, and they scanned it.
  2. Good luck! I had my ceremony yesterday, now enjoying my new citizenship and also waiting for my passport!
  3. It should be fine, immi knows your first date or arrival anyway. They asked me at the interview what my first date was, but didn't ask to see my passport or what. As if it was just a test question
  4. Good that you didn't withdraw and re-submit your application Congrats!
  5. I think the conditions are clear - if your partner is currently enrolled in her masters, you have unrestricted hours. I had the same condition for 3 years, it was never a problem.
  6. Don't worry, I would expect DOHA ceremonies to help clear the backlog, and hopefully your wait should not be longer than the expected 6 months (if not 3 as it was the case for me).
  7. I think it's just DOHA organising ceremonies across Melbourne to clear some of the Councils' backlog.
  8. On 11 September 2016 (4 years before your intended lodgement date), you were not in Australia nor a permanent resident - see other posts on this forum about this condition. I think you can only apply 4 years after your return to Australia, on 2 Feb 2021.
  9. Just got my ceremony email. Looks like it's not going to be hosted by Moreland Council, so probably a DOHA ceremony on 14 October.
  10. 4 or 5 business days. My initial test date was in November, got it back to end of June. I checked 10 times a day and moved it 4 times forward
  11. 80-100 people gaining citizenship from what I've read, but not sure how reliable is the source (another forum). It also said the backlog was currently about 400 people (but I suspect it has gotten worse with all the new approvals in the last couple of months, so hard to say). What I know is there has been 3 ceremonies since my approval (including the September one which I'm sure I'm not on the list), and no news from Council. Soon my waiting time from approval to ceremony is going to be longer than from lodgement to approval Did you not find a sooner date for your test date?
  12. Every second Tuesday of the month, apparently. And up to 100 people per ceremony from what I have read somewhere else.
  13. 2.5 months, so if I'm on the October ceremony, it will have been 3.5 months between approval and ceremony.
  14. Yeah, true, some Council are much faster than others - I should not use my case as a rule I hope to get my invite from Moreland in the next days then
  15. Not if the ceremony is scheduled 4-5 months later, which is the average wait at the moment.
  16. Yes, even if you had your approval tomorrow, waiting times for the ceremony can be long (I've been waiting for more than 2 months, and no news yet). So it might be safer to apply for a RRV.
  17. Yes, keep checking everyday, I managed to move mine from November to June after 3 times! If you check often enough, I'm pretty sure you can get a slot for the next few days! I got my approval the week after (early July) and now waiting my ceremony invite with Moreland. Looks like it's a long wait at this Council, be prepared!
  18. Hi, I understand you would be eligible around the 26th of July 2020 in that case. You need to be in Australia 4 years prior to your lodgement date, and in your case you came back on the 26th of July. I guess the immigration officer was right, and the residence calculator doesn't really take into consideration where you were 4 years before your lodgement date. There are a couple of posts on this subject, I think. Cheers
  19. 1 minute processing time, well done mate How long is your student visa for? It it was a straightforward application, it was probably processed by their computer, temporary visas are not as critical as permanent residency visas.
  20. No, you said you would receive the approval letter soon as you have passed the test, which is not correct and misleading. Again, for some applications, approval can take several months after you have passed the test. It is not 'as soon as' you have passed it.
  21. I don't think this is correct, it just depends. Some have their application approved on the same day as test, others have been waiting for months. You will receive your approval letter a few days after your immiaccount shows 'approved'
  22. You'll probably get your letter in the mail this week or next week, no email.
  23. Hi Kkk7, Be very careful - if you think your eligible date is Jan 2020, check where were you exactly 4 years before, in Jan 2016. According to your post, you were not in Oz, in that case I understand (from what I read in previous posts in this forum) that you would not be eligible even though the residence calculator says you are. You would only be eligible in November 2020, 4 years after you returned to Australia, providing you didn't exceed the allowed time overseas. This is just information I read on the forum, double check by yourself and/or ask a migration agent if you're not sure...
