  1. Hi Thanks. I am just looking at my paperwork from Vetassess and it details what is required when we get to Aus, and also lists some helpful website links which I didn’t realise I had until my agent told me. I agree with you that there are plenty of us sparkies making the move so it’s possible (that’s me picking the positives out of it). I agree with you, you get out what you put in. Thanks for your input and all the best!
  2. Hi I’m sure this topic will have been raised plenty of times before but the only posts I see are pretty dated. Here goes, we (me and family) are coming to Australia in September. I am an Electrician and hold a OTSR Level 3 Cert. My understanding is that this Cert entitles me to a restricted licence from Energy Safety, BUT, just how hard is it to actually get an employer to take on someone with a restricted licence? Can anything like Theory tests be done from the UK before arriving? Anyone with any up to date information will be appreciated. Thanks
  3. Hi. We plan to make our move to Aus in September this year. We are on a PR visa, but my question today is, my Mam has suggested she comes with us for a month to help us settle in and give us a hand with our Children whilst me and the wife are busy sorting other things out on arrival. What type of visitor visa will my Mam need?
  4. Thank you for the advice......I've only just seen this....and i'm browsing this site almost everyday! Joanna has been dealing with us and provided our quote. Best ring the vets! Thanks
  5. Hi, I’m now at the end of my application process and I sit here waiting for a grant. I would recommend hiring a migration agent, mine have been absolutely brilliant and helped with so much, so for me it’s worth the fee....not sure I can mention them publicly on here so I won’t (unless instructed otherwise). It’s a tough old road, gathering evidence, doing English test and skills assessments but it’s all worth it when that application is submitted! If it’s what you want, go for it! All the best
  6. Not too far up the road! We have State Nomination from SA. Just currently waiting for the 190 visa to be granted, our agent says it could be May/June time and we plan to go for Sept/Oct. We have friends in Perth so we might visit them 1st on arrival. [emoji1303] Lots of planning to do. Good Luck
  7. Oh good, we too are from the North East (Middlesbrough). I think we will take the Gold package, sounds good. Thanks for the advice All the best!
  8. I have sent them a message so hopefully they will get back to me. On the surface it seems really complicated with fee after fee to pay so it’s about weighing up if I feel it’s going to be worth it. It’s a BMW 1 Series Diesel M Sport with 90k miles so I know it should go for a while yet. Thanks all
  9. Hi Is it worth taking over our UK car? I have been in contact with a company regarding shipping, but to be completely honest the whole things seems more complicated than taking the dog! Does anyone have any input/experience on this matter?
  10. I needed them in order to satisfy TRA (and DIBP) that I have the required level of experience and qualifications, I still had to do a stage 1 (references, certs, Work history, payslips)....and stage 2 (practical one day)skills assessment. A migration agent will advise better as they are very knowledgeable. Cheers
  11. Hi Thanks. I am just currently waiting for a 190 Visa to be granted. I have level 2, level 3’s, & NVQ3, along with other associated trade quals like CompEx and High Voltage switching, however these are irrelevant for the visa process.
  12. Check out http://www.tradesrecognitionaustralia.gov.au/Programs/Pages/GainLicence.aspx
  13. Plumbing is a licensed trade in Australia, therefore I doubt a Temp visa would be available. I’m a Electrician and have done a skills assessment which has given me a OTSR Certificate, but even when I land in Aus I have to gain a A class license in order for me to work unsupervised ....You could look into speaking to a Visa agent who will clear everything up for you and let you know where you stand. Good luck!
  14. Good insight, I done mine in August at Blackburn College with a 1st time pass. I do agree that you need to stick to the dimensions, it is a nerve wracking day though as no one wants to fail. The question paper was harder than I thought it would be but as my assessor said he does not want to fly back to the UK to do Question paper re sit! Good luck with the process, I am currently waiting for my visa to be granted.
  15. I think PetAir are our preferred choice....Do you fly before/after your pooch? We are mulling over the Gold Package they offer just because they take control of everything which can leave us to concentrate on other matters. 3 weeks eh! Wow. Good luck and best of luck to you aswell. Keep us all posted
  16. Hi, getting involved in this thread as we (me the wife and children) are heading off to Aus September 2018 and we are taking our Patterdale Terrier with us. I have a friend over in Aus and he shipped both of his Patterdale’s over and according to him they are doing just fine, it’s fair to say or at least what I have read is, they seem to fair better than we do. Saying that though..... I’m still dreading putting mine in a crate/flight/quarantine. Keep us posted & Good Luck
  17. Hi, I revised at work on and off. I think I done an hour or so a day for 2/3 weeks before. It was basically just trying to brush up on my English skills, grammar, punctuation etc, practising re arrange paragraphs, describe image and practised some essay writing! Honestly though, it’s more about hitting the ground running when the test starts.
  18. Hi I also done my PTE and needed superior English for my points total (190 Visa). I can’t really say on any specific areas for revising as it depends where your strengths and weaknesses lie, I can however say to try and cover all areas the best you can (you tube helped me). I have got to say on my 1st test, (which I failed by 1 point) I hadn’t realised how quick and intense the exam would be, it took me a good half hour to settle into a rhythm. By the time i took my 2nd test I knew what to expect and passed. I would say, be clear, concise & try not to panic. I’m a Electrician, I revised and revised again, I watched you tube, done mock tests and I believe it all helped. It’s quite intense to start but you do (or I did) settle.....enjoy it! I’m now waiting for a visa grant so it’s all worth while. Good luck!
  19. Hi, I got an invitation after around 3-4 weeks....good luck!
  20. Patphillips47, Is it true that i can do the Context Gap Training on a 10 day course at PEER South Australia? does this then entitle me to a full A Class licence after completion of this course? I have a OTSR from my Stage 2 skills assessment from the UK. Thanks in advance
  21. Hey Thank you for the link! I have looked into it, there does seem a lot of support for skilled migrants moving to SA, which is encouraging. I am still googling and finding out as much as i can, which is one reason i joined this forum. Thanks for your support
