    Aussie weather

I like those days when it's fine and sunny daytime and cool at night, sleep really well. Perth will get a good few of these coming up.

    Outside dogs

Our dogs sleep on our bed, usually cuddling the Mrs. The thought of them being outside at night is horrible. When I go to bed, I just have to find some spare space to settle, wherever it is. I'm thinking of getting myself a dog basket.
  3. Migrants who move to Australia have money.
  4. Albany and Esperance are nice places but not ideal for most work types. If you are a bricky or a nurse, I guess you'd be OK. But, for a lot of job types, it might be a struggle.
  5. Not au fait with the Wirral to be honest. My bro lives in Crosby and is looking for a move to Formby as Crosby is on the wane. Personally, Sth Liverpool is better for mine, I like Calderstones area.
  6. South Liverpool (e.g. Allerton, Mossley Hill, St Michael's, Calderstones) and Formby are the only areas I would entertain these days. Crosby has gone down the nick a bit. Only thing is South Liverpool and the likes of Formby are anywhere between 350k-1M for a decent gaff. Heswall is nice but too dear and out of the way.

    Aussie weather

As summer draws to a close, this has been by far the mildest WA summer since we moved here 11 years ago. No real heatwaves, no 40 degree days, fairly cool at night most of the time, consistent wind, below average temps. Been a bit of a surprise but not a problem, have fairly enjoyed it. Only been in the pool twice though.
  8. There's a 'British' chippy in Currambine that does haddock and it's great. It also does cod, which is rubbish. That said, I have recently been back to the UK and the cod there was bland in the extreme too so I think the problem lies with cod in general. To be fair, Australia is well stocked for decent fish, I'd say in general it's better. The chips on the other hand, are usually disgraceful.
  9. I can totally relate to the OP, albeit we are in Perth. The first 2, 3 even 4 years were great, lots of new stuff, lots of adventures. But realistically, I have struggled since then, and we've been here 10+ years now. We've had some great times here but if I list them as a trade off against what we've missed out on, a bit of nice weather, a few barbies and some travelling doesn't really cut it. I've mentioned in other posts that I have no option of returning now, wouldn't be fair on others so I wouldn't pursue it. But if it was me on my own (well, me and the dogs), I'd be gone tomorrow. I don't want to start a row about where is better, there is no generic right answer to that. But you know in yourself where home is and Australia has left me a bit hollow in that respect, once the 'holiday' ended. Good luck with your move Lady T.
