  2. October 2015 is still quite a long way off the official processing date of 5 May 2015. Unfortunately you may need to wait for many months before you are contacted.
  3. Best to post these questions on the main parent visa thread and you should get more response.
  4. Interestingly 8 years is also now the approximate processing time for new 143 applicants. So it may now be better to just apply for a 103 and you always have the option to switch later to 143.
  5. You could go for the 143 parent visa.
  6. It shouldn’t affect the CPV stream, as there will be 15,000 new places each year just for these visas. And when you consider the cost for each new visas will be $5,000 or $10,000, they will generate around $100m per year in revenue. So should easily be able to fund the additional administration costs. Historically immi has always been able to process the entire ‘capped’ allocation of parent visas places each year. Except for last year, and it’s difficult to really know why. But it would appear to more for politically motivated reasons, and not because immi is unable to cope with the caseload.
  7. The 600 visa is a bit of a lottery and I'm going to be useless at answering any of your questions, but I hope others here will be able to share their own 600 experiences. However I just wanted to say welcome to the waiting room and nice to see we have almost identical lodgement dates, so it will be interesting to compare progress in the future. Also, there is the new temp parent visa due to start soon (or possible before Jan 2019) which may give you an alternative to another 600 without having to leave Australia. But you will need to be prepared to act quickly when applying if you do choose this option.
  8. Worried and confused is about normal for the CPV queue. Try more wine.
  9. Anyone heard from immi lately? I can't get any updates form my test emails and they must be due for a big leap forward this week.
  10. Sounds good to me and nice to get the medical over and done with. One less thing to worry about.
  11. Medical for a 600 visa? Is this new or was there always a medical exam for this visa?
  12. I don’t think you will have a problem when converting your 173 to 143 even considering your current age. And it probably won’t matter now if you are no longer dependent. You already passed all the ‘tests’ for dependency when your 173 was granted. It would not be fair to make you go back home now just because the CPV process is now taking so long. I think you only need to be ‘dependent’ at the time you make the 173 application, but it would be best to check with a good immigration agent. When did you apply for your 173 and when was it granted?
  13. Nice work Peter2. Please feel free to add me to the list with lodged date 28th March 2016.
  14. Yes, 8 months could be a record wait for AoS. When did you apply for your visa? (you can also add your visa info to your signature)
  15. Unfortunately there is little prospect of getting your visas sooner, due to the 'cap' or the total number of people allowed to have a CPV each year. This cap is now set at 7175, but last year they were about 900 places short. And they have now decided the cap is not a cap, just a guide. The government could raise the cap at budget time, but they won't because they have worked out that parent immigrants are very expensive for Australia. And they are now more likely to reduce the cap or increase the cost of a CPV or both. Currently there is an estimated 50k+ applicants in the pipeline. If you have a look at the main parent visa thread, you will see most of us in the queue have underestimated how long this process would take, and how it is now spiraling into a complete farce. The queue has only moved forward 1 month in the last 5 months. So have no fear about selling your house in time and you will be able to follow others the thread and make a more informed decision in a few years time. Also it's best not to trust the Home Affairs website, if fact don't trust anything in this process as it all keeps changing and the goalposts move every few months.
  16. 5 months to process 1 month's worth of applications, so that's 5 years to process a whole year. And that will take us to +7 years to get our visas (or a refund if we die first).
  17. Very good point, but the parent visa waiting times are so unpredictable I would not try and plan anything and just take it as it comes. Unfortunately you may find processing times getting considerably longer (10 years plus) so I would get that application in today.
  18. Yes, that's about right and it's important to go directly for a 143 visa and lock in the current price. Also get your application in asap as the queue is growing very quickly (now about 6/7 years).
  19. If you apply for a 173 visa, you have the 1st vac payment to make at the time of submitting your application. You then have the loftier 2nd vac to pay when your application is processed and just before your visa is granted. If you then decided to go for the 143 visa, you basically repeat the process with additional 1st and 2nd vac payments. There is now a lengthy queue for both visas and it is better to go directly for the 143 visa to avoid future price increases.
  20. If you are an Australian and apply for a visa for a future husband or wife (or partner), is there already an English test for this type of visa?
  21. I think an English test is a really good idea. I know it’s easy for us Poms, but Malcolm Turnbull is making sense and it has to be better for Australia. Although if it’s to be a local exam (like the medical) I guess it will take years to setup and probably will not impact on most of us here.
  22. Yes that's right, life is in a holding circle and it's just far too disruptive in every way. There will be a point when for us it's just not worth it, husband is already talking about not going. What if we wait another two years only to discover there is even more delays, where will it all end?
  23. It just keeps getting worse, I am starting to think 5 years plus now for our 173. We are now just waiting for the new visa and plan on going out as soon as.
  24. Congratulations! Normally they grant the visa within a few days from receiving the 2nd vac payment.
  25. Are you going to ask your case officer (when you get one) if you can just go directly for your 143 now? I don't think there is much chance unfortunately, but no harm in asking.
