  1. Well im now one week away from moving to Melbourne. Out stuff was sent 3 weeks ago with anglo pacific (so far so good with them) and is expected to arrive 3 -4 weeks after we arrive. Got a house and car sorted and kids are enrolled in schools ! So far so good. Im excited but also nervous about the move, going to throw everything I have at it to make it work. It has taken us two years to get to this stage (with the court case etc).
  2. Just wanted anyone interested to know that I got my leave to remove, visa was granted in November 2017 and we are all set to move to Traralgon, Victoria at the end of March this year. Its been a long hard battle to get to this point, lots of money spent, lots of time, bucket loads of stress during the Court case......but we go there in the end . Now the panic has set it ! will it work out for us in oZ? will my kids settle? Will I be able to move my business to oz?
  3. Im afraid i cant give you a technical explanation as to why it takes so long. the offide deals with child abduction case so i guess first off a matter like this is not seen as urgent and secondly its my understanding that there are only 2 judges in Aus who will do it (sign off on a British order). My case was very contentious and so we asked and paid for a written recital of the judges summing up as well which was sent along with the order. We were not able to obtain much info during the process. Needless to say our visa app relied on the order being registered and all out docs were in and just waiting for the australian order. soon as we got it we uploaded it with a letter and 48hrs later GRANT
  4. sorry for lengthy delay in responding. your order needs to go through : Imogen Adams-Stiell | Senior Case Manager International Child Abduction & Contact Unit (ICACU) Central Authority for England and Wales Office of Official Solicitor and Public Trustee, Victory House, 30-34 Kingsway, London WC2B 6EX 020 3681 2608 (10am to 4pm Monday to Friday)
  5. YEEEESSS !! Ive just received my temp and permanent visa for me and my two children very very very happy. I had to get to leave to remove my children through the Courts, that was granted in Feb 2016. Applied for our visa's same month. Then had to have the UK court order registered in Australia which took best part of 7 months. We had to re=apply for police checks a week ago and hit submit yesterday only to be granted today, straight to permanent ! Delighted to say the least. Its been a very very long road which started 2 years ago with an application to the UK court for permission to remove my children permanently.
  6. No indication of timescales no the last case that went through this process last year took two months to have the UK Court order registered by a Judge in Australia. Despite what you may think, UK court orders are NOT recognised in OZ, they do not have mirror orders like some other countries. You have to have your uk order re-written by an australian judge so that its in australian law. And to do that you have to have the full transcript of the final hearing and suing up recorded and written down by a professional transcriber so that the australian judge can understand how the uk judge came to their decision ! Lots of red tape. My visa and my children visa's are subject to the order being registered in the australia so we can get granted until its registered.
  7. We are moving there because my wife is Melbournian and has lots of family there. Our chosen town is Traralgon, about 2 hour drive east of the city. Im used to country town living (live in Cornwall at the moment) so Traralgon suits me just fine. I am self employed and will be starting a business fresh when we land so nervous about how that might go....
  8. Very envious of all you guys getting grants My visa app was placed end of Feb, medicals and police checks done by end of March but I have a court order which has too be registered in Australia before i can get a grant. I had a leave to remove case awarded in my favour in Jan this year in the UK court (permission to relocate with my two children) but as part of the order I have to have a mirror order in Australia. So its taking quite some time. . I am also moving to Melbourne (how come everyone seems to be moving to Melb ??)
  9. So we are hoping to move out to oz around end of November this year. We have 5 kids, all under 14. The plan is to ship out stuff 8 weeks before we go, live with not much in the Uk during that time, then only have to wait couple weeks once in 0z for out stuff. Hopefully getting it before xmas ! ! ! Have had several quotes. Mainly looking at doree bonner or Anglo Pacific. Pacific are saying as they ship every 7-10 days to melbourne we should get out stuff quicker than if we ship with bonnor. Pacific are also a little cheaper. Confused as to what to do and which one would be best to use
  10. I wouldnt take it, from what i have heard it could get picked up
  11. I live in sunny Cornwall and im off to Melbourne in November this year. I dont need a full shipping container so we saw on this forum Movecube from Sevenseas. Wow sounds like a great idea and looks cost effective - I thought. So I went on their website early yesterday morning to try and produce a quote, but rigt at the end of the quotation system it said could not continue and to contact them direct. So waited till 9am and my wife phoned and spoke to someone. "yes we can do that" said the nice lady on the phone, the only problem was getting the movecube from Sevenseas depot to the home address in Oz, so we said not a problem we can collect from the depot! The lady said she would call us back with a price. Waited all day until 5pm. So I called and explained we were still waiting for a quote and were very keen to GET SIGNED UP. She flaffed about a bit and then said the original lady was just speaking to the warehouse to see how much extra it would cost because we are in Cornwall. No call back ! So my wife called again today to be told they were still looking in to it and then we got cut off. So she called back again and got a different person who could not find any of our details on their system, so we went through all that again only to be told by the lady that Cornwall is not in their service area so we cant use moveccube ! end of phone call. Not happy. I was sure I had seen 1 or 2 other people on this forum from Cornwall use Movecube..... either way not happy that Ive been messed about so much over just a quote!
  12. it won't give me an estimate because we are in cornwall (out of their area)!±
  13. Ive called Sevenseas 2-3 times requesting a quote from them but i still have no idea on cost! We are in Cornwall so because its out of the area they needed to get to me........ the wait continues. Ideally im looking for a large one and a medium to be delivered to Melbourne
  14. Today we have had communication about registering our UK Court order in Australia (something we have to do before we can migrate). My wife is Australian and has family in Traralgon area (about 2 hours East of Melbourne) thats where we will migrate to. We applied for my Visa middle of Feb but have to have the court order registered in Oz before we will get granted I am preying we dont miss out in the quick granting that seems to be going on
  15. haha, she is amazing i can tell you. so hot she is actually a wifi hotspot !
  16. Wow Unzippy that is really fast. I placed my app at the end of Feb 2017. We have CO and some additional info has been requested by the CO (inc the medicals). Im guessing my case may be more complicated than most. Wifi is aussie and has 2 kids from previous marriage. I have two kids that live with me from my previous marriage (all under 15) and we have a 2 year old together! Had to go to Court to get Leave to Remove permission to take my two children, which we got. We are having to register the court order in Australia, which is not arraign forward We hope to go by the end of November 2017
  17. We aren't quite ready yet anyway and have five young children, so we saw it as safer to do it from the UK where we already live. It was just a case as exploring every avenue if the visa took longer than what appears to be the 'average' 8 months or so
  18. I have just applied using the online system. Wife is Australian, I am British. Child together. Hope and prey we get granted by December 2017
  19. Hello everyone. I have just placed my application for the above visa, my wife is Aussie. Am I right in saying that some applicants move to Oz BEFORE this type of visa is granted (using the tourist 12 month visa) and then just exiting and re-entering Australia when its granted to activate the visa? Have I understood that right ?
  20. Hi everyone, im a brit, living in Cornwall, with 5 kids (13, 11, 11, 9 and 1), my wife is an Aussie and is from Victoria. Her family live in Traralgon and we are planning a move later this year. I work from home and have done for nearly 15 years. I repair mobile phones and computers and i also design and build retro arcade machines and pinball tables. The intention is to move to Traralgon and continue working from home doing what i do at the moment. We would need to rent to begin with, looking to buy within 3-4 years i guess. I currently earn about £3000 a month in the UK. Does anyone have an opinion on Traralgon as a place to live? Im from Cornwall so used to not being in the big city. How about the type of work I do, do you think i would get plenty of work? Any advice / opinions, good or bad very much appreciated.
  21. Hello folks, im going through a complicated leave to remove case in UK court to get permission for me to relocate to Oz with my two kids. The jusge has asked us for information about how the Uk order is enforceable in Oz. I think im right in saying that back in the day you could register a court order with an australian court, but i think that has now changed. Anyone have any experience of this? Thank you
  22. **UPDATE** So its been a few weeks since my last update. For those who dont have time to read the entire thread a quick recap : I am a dad with two kids from previous marriage. I left wife and took kids as ex partner was abusive, slept all day and awake all night, smoked copious amounts of grass in front of the kids and had a history of serious psychological issues which were effecting her ability to be a mother to out two young kids. I have remarried, an Aussie, who has two kids of her own from previous marriage and we now have a baby together. So 5 kids in total, we all want to move to Australia. My ex wife has not seen out children for two years. Has just started phone contact after me notifying her of out intention to go to oz. Have been to first hearing, have submitted my witness stat and have my ex's reply in writing and caffcass interview completed. So on with the update : I submitted my witness stat ontime, my ex's was a week late! Whereas my stat was strictly professional and factual with no slating or slagging off of my ex, her's was a complete charactor assisination of me. 20 pages, with two paragraphs dedicated to her reasons why we shouldnt go - everything else was disputing the past and slagging me of. If you didn't know me and read the her report for the first time you would think I was the worst person in the world. Anyway a few days after receiving that we had the cafcass interview at home. The officer visited my ex first then us. It was clear from the CC officers questions that she had bought the storey hook line and sinker. However there was some very worrying things bought up in the questions, namely that despite me already having a section 7 social services report carried out on me (at my request - which totally cleared me of any issues) the CC officer continued to ask me if I was abusive towards my ex, was i an aggressive person and a few other questions to accusations that had been levied at me (previously answered in social services reports). You have to remember here that my ex is not asking for shared parenting, more time with the kids, in fact she isn't even saying she wants to take care of the kids (despite the fact that i sound like i am the worst husband and father on the planet from her report!). So why the CC officer is even bothering to ask me these questions has got my back up. Having finished the 3 hour interview, which I feel I got all my points across, I was concerned on a few points, however we will wait to se the outcome of her report, what did surprise me was the weight to which she is going to put on the childrens points of view (8 and just over that). Don;t get me wrong both my children are desperate to go and still dont want to see their birth mother, however my boy is only 8, thats very young. Sure he's an intelligent little monkey, but still, young to have such an important decision put on him. The CC officer met with the kids very briefly when they came in at the end of the meeting and the CC officer openly said to them she has to do exactly as they tell her and that they are her their boss! It really gave my excited 8 year old boy a serious power-trip. I guess what I am more angry about is the fact that two thirds or more of the interview was spent on the past and background and only half an hour discussing our contact proposals should we be granted leave to remove. The CC officer admitted not having read the previous social services report and admitted not having read all of my witness stat about my proposals to move abroad!!! Anyway in the next few days my two children will be interviewed by CC and then within the next month we are back in for the second hearing. I'm very stressed about the outcome of the CC report because I know the Court will, more than likely, go with their recommendations and I feel like they have been given a lot of false info and have not read the previous social services report properly and I am worried they will not listen to my kids properly. Let's be honest, like many kids around 8, they say one thing one day and something else the next day. My families entire future relies solely on the thoughts of an 8 year old on that given day????? really? Right now im walking on tender hooks with my kids. Look if the report goes my way ( or should i say is positive about my proposals ) then we are fine, I know that. But if it's neutral or negative Im going to be pretty angry because it will not be based on evidence or fact, it will be based on the CC officers 'opinion' of events. I can tell you now Im not having a factually incorrect report tabled in a Court of law without a bloody good fight. Thus far I would say that there is more weight on the mothers side than on the fathers side, despite the mountain of evidence that I have effectivly been mother and father to our kids since a very young age (making all their meals, school runs, birthdays, hospital visits - and working from home 24/7 to pay for everything). It is being suggested that it's more important how the mother feels. I thought this was about the what the children wanted and what was best for them
