It takes effect from when any AOS is paid for AFTER 1/4/18 not from when you first applied for visa. So yes your application will come under those new rules as you can’t apply for AOS till asked to supply that and any other documents required. However there is some debate as to whether the new measures will still go ahead or be modified in any way as some Australian senators are questioning it Basically everybody here who applied for visa and is still waiting comes under new rules unless they have paid AOS before 1st April this year. By the way a single assurer for 2 parents needs about €88290 annual income for the year of application and also the previous 2 years as well! You can have more assurers but the combined income level will increase dramatically as it will if there are any partners or children in the assurers family.

I think you have to support applicants for two years after 173 but will definitely have to pay AOS on 143 visa

Just wondering about delays etc. Are there really countries that Australia considers to be “unsafe” for visa purposes? I read on another forum that some thought that delays are because applicants are from countries that are not considered to be “safe” therefore they may need further/deeper/longer assessment?

Then the amount of income your sister needs to do AOS will increase I think Also by time you are assessed the AOS will also have increased from €10000 for one person to €15000 then secind applicant will rise from €4000 to €6000.

There can be more than one assurer but they can only sponsor 2 adults and dependants under 18 I think under one AOS but there are other forum members who will have more knowledge of dependants than I do and hopefully will chip in. One single person sponsoring two adults would need annual income of approx $88000

As far as I am aware only 2 adults can be sponsored under one AOS the amount payable by your sister would depend on whether she had a partner and/or children under 18

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/world/2018/apr/07/peter-dutton-says-like-minded-countries-should-rethink-un-refugee-convention It’s also about other types of immigration quote:- In a wide-ranging interview with Guardian Australia conducted on Tuesday, Dutton flagged a reluctance to allow the elderly family members of immigrants to come to Australia, and a desire to incentivise new arrivals to move to regional communities. He also reaffirmed the country’s commitment to a nondiscriminatory immigration policy Quote “We need to bring in younger people like most western democracies. We want to bring them in as young as possible, which is sometimes controversial because people want to bring, particularly through the family program, people of an older age in. But we want people to pay taxes and be contributing for as long as possible.

My reading from what’s on the website leads me to think that a parent visa is only granted when the child lives in Australia - otherwise any Australian citizen living outside of Australia anywhere else in the world could enable parents to get the 143 visa without living there themselves? Perhaps the solution is for the son to remain in Australia till the parent visa is granted and therefore also permanent residence? Taken from home affairs website :- Eligibility: You must have a child who is an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen. At least half of your children must live in Australia or more of your children live in Australia than any other country

You could get another sponsor but Unless your son or other child remains living in Australia I doubt you would get the Parent visa 143 as the conditions state the child or majority of children must live in Australia.

I wonder if this is partly the reason why the assessment date for processing hasnt moved since mid March? Maybe they were told to hang fire until the announcement was made?

I posted two different calculations earlier for the same scenario. Daughter, partner and one child sponsoring one adult parent. According to this guide http://guides.dss.gov.au/guide-social-security-law/9/4/3/60 my calculations came out as 89493.40. But according to centre link calculator it’s 91234.46!! which is correct please?

Having looked at all the new income calculators I’m somewhat confused! If I multiply 28868.84 x 3 adults (daughter, her partner and me) that makes 86606.52 plus 10% of 28868.84 for 1 child (grandchild) is 2886. 88 so total would be 86606.52 + 2886.88 = 89493.40 yet Centrelink income calculator tell me the income required would be 91234.46 Could anyone explain difference please ? Happy have my calculations double checked!!?

I think @AMP sorted some health insurance out for 600 visa but haven’t noticed her on the site recently. Oh this process has probably caused some people more problems and disappointments than normal in their lives.

@Kathss56 oh what a shame you got that condition. Will you have somewhere to stay for 6 months if visa doesn’t come through as I know you sold your house? I’m keeping my fingers crossed your visa is granted before that!

My daughter is sponsoring me but it seems as though her partner and child are taken into account when working out income requirements. Is this correct as I thought it would be based just on her income as she is the assurer and not married to her partner ?

Is that for existing applicants too? Only the 2nd vac stays at the rate at the time you apply for 143 doesn’t it? Will cause problems for those who have already budgeted for $10000 or $14000!

Oh dear! Looks like new legislation applying from July 2019 means instead of paying $10000 for first AOS it’s going up to. $15000 and $6000 for second applicant ??

Looks more like 2k not 20k?? Example (worked on the assumption that the NSA income cut-off amount is $28,868.84 as at 1 July 2017): if one person gives an AoS for 2 adults the income requirement will be $86,606.52 (the applicable NSA income cut-off amount of $28,868.84 multiplied by the total number of adult assurer and adult assurees (3)), or

for one parent applying for 143 Income requirement $58,860.94 must be the combined income of all assurers for this financial year. The same income must be earned for the past two financial years. If you don't have enough income you can seek help of another assurer. Bank Guarantee $10,000.00 is the bank guarantee you need to arrange if your application is approved. for 2 parents applying for143 Income requirement $88,291.41 must be the combined income of all assurers for this financial year. The same income must be earned for the past two financial years. If you don't have enough income you can seek help of another assurer.
