  1. We're on Working Holiday Visas, approved within a couple of hours, Permanent residency visas take longer, I am sure
  2. Haha Stacey... It's like I read your mind . How are you getting on with planning?
  3. Yeah I'm not printing them out just taking it on memory stick and on email, just going to have to adapt it slightly to aim it at the kind of jobs I'm going to aim for out there. ahh how exciting, bet you can't wait. Are you all set to go?
  4. Hi guys, so I'm in that place where I can soon be booking my flight, first lot of accommodation and so on. I will be doing this on Monday next week I'm so excited. This is what I can think of that I need to do before I go, have I missed anything? - *Flight *Accommodation *Insurance * CVs *Case/Backpack *Bank Acc(about a month before I go) and then I have thinkers block haha. Any ideas? Many thanks
  5. Hi Harriet, I've done the same and will still have a year left when I land in Aus. The £360, is that a reduced rate or is that the cost of your full remaining contract? I'm keeping my contract going and paying it whilst I'm out there. Mainly because it would cost me the full lot to cancel and I want to keep my number when i get back. I've had the same number since i was 16 and I'm 25 now lol. I'll be unlocking my phone and taking it but leaving my sim behind in a cheap phone that my mum or brother can check for me every now and again. I know myself and know I would be tempted to use it if I took.
  6. That's exactly my plan I'm going to enjoy one to two weeks 'holiday time' then plow into looking for a job, who knows where lol.
  7. The WHV allows you to study for up to 4 months in aus, I'm not sure what the limitations are on 'study'(I'm sure someone could tell you) but it's one of the conditions on the visa. You definately only get 4 months though.
  8. Hi . Yeah sure I can! I'm kind of going at it full on and only planning my first two week ands seeing where it takes me. Doing it all on my own, I've read that programmes are really good for the social side(like Stacey is doing) but not for much else. I think for me, I change my mind on programmes and set up packages when I was going to pay someone to apply for my visa for me and on a whim decided to do it myself, it was so easy, I then thought 'wow I could of paid an extra £80 to get someone to do it for me'. I then decided to do it all on my own and hope to meet people when i get there If you need any advice on the way, don't be afraid to ask, we're all in the same boat
  9. Hi Chiara, I'm arriving in Sydney at the end of January, so you're not far behind me :-). I can't wait either!
  10. I meant no offence. Maybe just a lot of the people I've spoken to are being negative then. Must be looking on the wrong sites lol
  11. Ahhh Stacey... you ruined it for me lol in my head it was about $80 and I was going to book it when i got there haha(I joke of course!)
  12. Just found this... I want! http://www.yougodo.com/en/Sleep-at-the-Zoo/activity/feb01593-09ea-4cb3-a060-ca35e8a12aec.aspx ... (Haven't crushed my dreams and looked at the price yet lol)
  13. Defo the more the merrier :-) I arrive at the end of January, apparently it will start to cool down a bit after then.
  14. Haha it's a plan. If you haven't gone by the time I arrive then we'll go together
  15. Haha we keep doing this to each other lol. Great minds and all that. Wow, that looks amazing... Definitely a fab idea!! Love stuff like that
  16. Hi guys, I'm trying to get a Bucket list/to do list, of sorts, together. I have finished everything I want to do but it is all pretty standard touristy stuff and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of anything off the beaten track or slightly different I should do or look into? Just curious :-)
  17. Ahh Stacey you've got me itching to get booking, but I've got to wait for some money to come through at the end of the month! Haha
  18. Hey Alix, I am so sorry to hear that. It may not seem like it now, but it will probably be the best thing you ever do, going on yout own. A few people have offered to come along with me but I just imagine the freedom and possibilities of going on my own :-).
  19. I'll be taking around 4k ish maybe 5 if I can work a bit extra so yeah 7k will be fine
  20. This is GREAT to hear. So many people only look at the negatives nowadays. So excited to get there!!
  21. Stacey, that's so exciting to hear, yayy. I'll bet you'll get all excited when you book your flight, i think that's when it will sink in for me.
  22. Yeah exactly haha . I'm really not overly fussed, just thought it was worth an ask incase there were any tricks of the trade :-)
  23. Yeah, that's what i intend to do lol :-)
  24. Ah ok I didn't know they hold some back, thanks
  25. I've had pretty good luck on my short haul flights so far. I just know it'll be on my first long haul that I'll get the kicking and screaming child, the snorer and the person that smells like wet dog surrounding me  hahaha
